Los Angeles, CA – Jason Lee, multimedia entrepreneur and Hollywood Unlocked founder and CEO issued the below statement regarding recent social media posts from President Trump today:
“As the CEO of Hollywood Unlocked and the Vice Mayor of Stockton, I am disgusted by President Donald Trump’s social media post referring to the Obamas in racist, dehumanizing terms. Comparing Black people to animals is one of the oldest and most vile tools of white supremacy in American history. It is reckless, abhorrent, and far beneath the dignity of the office of the President of the United States.”
This is not about Republican or Democrat. It is not about ideology. It is about basic humanity. Whether you are Black, white, Latino, Asian, immigrant, or native-born — we should all be able to agree that racism and dehumanization have no place in American leadership.
Silence in moments like this is not neutrality — it is complicity. When someone holding the highest office in the land uses language rooted in hatred, every elected official, every civic leader, and every American of conscience has a responsibility to denounce it clearly and without hesitation.
America cannot claim to be the beacon of freedom while tolerating rhetoric that echoes some of the darkest chapters of our past. We must demand better. Our children are watching. The world is watching. And history will record who chose courage over cowardice.”
