In the heart of every meal lies a story, and for Dr. Chanel Fields, that story begins with legacy, love, and the art of gathering. After losing her mother to breast cancer, Dr. Fields discovered more than heirlooms in the cookware and china passed down to her. She uncovered a powerful connection to her Creole roots and the women who shaped her identity. Out of this discovery came Fields and Jackson, a brand created from remembrance and representation. Blending cultural heritage with modern design, Dr. Fields has built a movement that celebrates diversity, honors tradition, and invites everyone to the table.
What inspired you to create Fields and Jackson, and how does it reflect your family’s legacy?
I grew up in a home where the kitchen was the heartbeat of our family. For the women in my family a way of loving people is through food, and we believe that cooking was a love language. After losing my mother to breast cancer in 2021, I wanted to create something that carried her spirit forward. Fields and Jackson became a way to blend her legacy with my own love of design and storytelling. It is an opportunity to honor heritage through beautiful, functional pieces meant to be used, shared, and passed down from generation to generation.

What advice would you give to other entrepreneurs looking to build a brand rooted in heritage and purpose?
Lead with your story, not your strategy. I am an educator by trade, so at first I was leading with strategy and plans, but it was hard for people to connect. I hesitated opening up and telling my story because I was still grieving, but I quickly learned that people connect with authenticity more than perfection. Heritage is not only about the past, but also about how you translate meaning into the present. Build a brand that reflects who you are, stay true to your values, and let your purpose fuel you.
Are there any upcoming projects or collaborations that you are particularly excited about?
Yes. We are entering the holiday season with the launch of The Season of Noire, our fall Dutch Oven collection, and exploring collaborations that pair cookware with fine wine and storytelling. We have collaborations with seasoning and spice brands that I am really looking forward to. I am also elated to re-launch The Cultured Cook, a cooking show that allows people to learn how to pair good wine with great food while using our beautiful pieces. The goal is to continue building spaces where culture, craftsmanship, and conversation come together beautifully.
