Can you share the inspiration behind YANY Beauty’s decision to rebrand as an “Immersive Clean Beauty and Wellness Experience”?
My daughter and I served as our own inspirations for our Immersive Clean Beauty and Wellness Experience. We paused to contemplate what we, as individuals who cherish beauty and prioritize self-care, would desire from a beauty brand. We also examined what YANY Beauty had already excelled at – creating exceptional experiences. So, we strategized to marry these aspects while remaining true to our authentic selves and the original voice of our brand.
What drove this significant shift for the brand?
Our need to find our voice in an oversaturated beauty market drove our decision to rebrand. We have frequently referenced our commitment to sustainability and clean products, yet we haven’t fully emphasized it as our defining characteristic. Through this rebranding effort, our aim is to communicate to our customers that clean beauty is paramount in every decision we make. We also want to convey that clean beauty can seamlessly integrate into anyone’s self-care and wellness journey. Additionally, we are good at crafting unique experiences, from integrating innovative technology into our stores to hosting engaging events. This aspect is something people love about us, and we are determined to embrace it. It’s what sets us apart and defines our identity.
YANY Beauty has always supported independent founders and brands. How does this rebranding take that commitment to the next level, and what can visitors expect at your new Peachtree City location?
Our dedication to supporting indie founders takes center stage at our new location, where every product is owned and operated by an independent founder. Here, you won’t find any national brands in our inventory. This deliberate choice creates a unique space for brands to thrive without competing against billion-dollar companies, allowing them to shine and gain recognition for their commitment to beauty and wellness.
At our Peachtree City location, customers can anticipate discovering a wide array of clean beauty and wellness products from diverse indie founders spanning the globe, including YANY Beauty products. Our product selection encompasses everything from color cosmetics, skincare, body care, and fragrances, to wellness products, and more.
YANY’s integration of cutting-edge technology, such as QR codes and digital makeup try-ons, is impressive. How do these technological innovations enhance the overall shopping experience for customers?
We’re continually thrilled about our tech-enabled experiences, designed to elevate the customer journey at every touch point. Our use of QR codes enables customers to access comprehensive information about each product in our store, including its uses, ingredients, and insights into the Founders behind the brands. This level of transparency is invaluable for products that customers incorporate into their daily routines and those that may be new to them. While we verbally communicate our commitment to sourcing clean and sustainable beauty products, we want our visitors to witness it firsthand.
Moreover, our digital makeup try-on feature is complemented by a digital skincare analysis tool, empowering our customers to make informed purchasing decisions. Whether they’re shopping in-store or online, this technology allows them to find suitable shades for their skin tone and understand their skin type, leading to a more satisfying overall shopping experience.
Can you provide some examples of the indie beauty and wellness brands that YANY will showcase at its new location?
I don’t want to spill all the beans but some of the brands people can expect at our new location are Cashmere Moon, Katari Beauty, BeautyZana, and ConditionHer.
What criteria do you use to select these brands for inclusion in your immersive experience?
The primary criteria for product selection revolve around sustainability and cleanliness, encompassing attributes such as all-natural ingredients, vegan formulations, sulfate-free, and organic options. Additionally, inclusivity is of paramount importance, given the diverse backgrounds of our customer base.
However, our selection process was deliberate in promoting diversity by featuring Black-owned and other minority-owned brands. As a Black-owned brand ourselves, we understand the challenges of breaking into the market and the barriers to getting products on shelves. It is our mission to help eliminate those barriers, even on a smaller scale, and facilitate entry for underrepresented brands.
YANY’s commitment to delivering a holistic experience is noteworthy. Could you discuss the role of wellness services like yoga, meditation, and beauty treatments in enhancing the overall customer experience?
I understand that offering wellness services within a retail store might seem unconventional, but our intention is to take a unique approach. While we do not provide extensive yoga services like a gym, our offerings aim to create a sanctuary for individuals seeking mindful moments, offering 5 to 15-minute classes throughout the month and the opportunity to pause and meditate in our meditation booth while shopping. Our beauty treatments allow customers to experience YANY Beauty products firsthand. Our estheticians and makeup artists exclusively use our products, enabling customers to test them before committing to a full regimen or experiencing the enhancing effect of our makeup. All our service offerings are crafted with the underlying message that we value our customers as individuals, not just as transactions. In a fast-paced world with increasing costs, we want to express our gratitude to those who support and trust us as a small part of their beauty and wellness journeys.
Looking to the future, what are YANY Beauty’s aspirations and goals as it continues its journey as an immersive clean beauty and wellness experience?
Our primary goal is to expand our retail presence, encompassing both our branded stores and major retail outlets. This expansion aims to enhance the accessibility of YANY Beauty products, services, and the YANY Beauty experience for customers worldwide.
How do you see the future of the beauty and wellness industry evolving?
I’ve noticed an increasing number of brands placing added emphasis on formulating products that are genuinely inclusive and environmentally friendly, and I love that. With consumers becoming more discerning, I believe this will become a necessity as the beauty and wellness industries continue to evolve.
