BWLI’s Red Carpet Celebration Included Live Entertainment and a Proclamation Presented by the Village of Southampton
(September 9, 2023 – Southampton, New York) Black Women of Long Island (BWLI) hosted an intimate celebration this past Saturday, September 9th at the renowned Hamptons venue, Main Prospect in Southampton, NY. The Hamptons were buzzed with excitement at the grand debut of Kazaisu Rosé wine. But this wasn’t just any wine launch. This event was graced by the presence of the renowned Deborah Cox, adding a touch of glamour and elegance to the afternoon. The Hamptons, known for its opulent gatherings and high-profile events, witnessed a gathering that would be talked about for days to come. Judith Jacques, founder of Black Women of Long Island + members, a group known for their influence and impeccable taste, was among the esteemed guests as well as host of this exclusive function. Their presence added a layer of significance to the event, highlighting the importance of celebrating and supporting Black women in every sphere of life.
As the event went into the evening, the attendees were treated to a mesmerizing performance. Grammy Award-Winning Artist, Victory Boyd, took to the stage, her soulful voice echoing through the air, captivating every listener. Each note she sang seemed to harmonize perfectly with the ambiance, making the day even more memorable. Adding to the ambiance of the evening, the event was accompanied by the soulful sounds of DJ Toni B, who ensured that the attendees were treated to a musical experience that complemented the occasion’s significance. But what’s a wine debut without a feast to accompany it? Chef Sandy Pierre, known for her culinary prowess, served an amazing spread of food. Guests were seen relishing each bite, their palates delighted by the flavors that danced on their tongues. The combination of Kazaisu Rosé and Chef Pierre’s delicacies was nothing short of perfection.
Multi-platinum recording artist and Broadway sensation, Deborah Cox, was also honored with a proclamation by the Village of Southampton. The prestigious recognition was presented as a pleasant surprise to Deborah Cox. The proclamation was handed to Cox by Trustee Robin Brown, who is the first elected and subsequently re-elected Black woman in that role. This event not only celebrated Cox’s immense contributions to the music and theater industries but also highlighted the achievements and significance of Black women. The village’s gesture underscores the importance of recognizing and celebrating the accomplishments of Black women in various fields, and Deborah Cox’s recognition is a testament to her enduring impact on the entertainment world.
As the day drew to a close, guests left with memories of an evening filled with fine wine, personalized signed bottles of Deborah Cox’s signature wine, soulful music, delectable food, and the company of some of the most influential Black women from Long Island. The debut of Kazaisu Rosé was not just a wine launch; it was a celebration of culture, talent, and the finer things in life.

Black Women of Long Island, established in 2020, is a community created to celebrate Black women who reside within Long Island. The community aims to create an ecosystem to encourage the growth of the “Black Dollar” circulation as well as a community to encourage sisterhood and networking amongst women who reside within Long Island. BWLI will host a series of experiences, including conferences and other forms of celebrations to provide recognition to those deserving for their undeniable contribution within their respective fields and their communities.
The name itself betokens family, friendship, and love. KAZAISU combines the names of my three children: Kaila, Isaiah, and Sumayah. Bottled at Chateau Margilliere in Provence, France, a vineyard at the forefront of sustainable farming practices, use of organic grapes, and excellence in execution.
