FEMI Magazine (Natashia Bobbitt): Theresa, could you share with us the inspiration behind the founding of Friday Realty and the philosophy that drives your team’s approach to real estate transactions?
Day after day for several years, I entered the doors of sadness because I was working at a job with no raise or upward mobility, just to enough to pay my bills and remain unfulfilled. I knew something was wrong and I felt an emptiness inside me and a longing to do something bigger. As a child, I dreamed of owning my own business; as a matter of fact, I owned my first business at the age of eight, a little candy store. Entrepreneurship has always been a part of me. Excited, fearful, overwhelmed, worried are all feelings that I experienced in pursuing my entrepreneurial calling. Despite my feelings, I believed in my heart that my first year in business would be successful, and soon I would be able to achieve my goal of transitioning from working for someone else to working for myself. The two major reasons I decided to pursue my real estate business were to earn an elevated income and add value to people’s lives through homeownership (homeownership can be a catalyst for building wealth for people from all walks of life). During my first year in my real estate business, I was still working a full-time job, and I was able to obtain a five-figure income. Are you curious to know how? I had to think outside the box, so instead of focusing on selling houses, I decided to sell who I was known for or what I was good at. I created my marketing material and branded my name based on my strengths. My brand, Theresa Friday, is customer service-driven, hardworking, and passionate about helping people. I mainly focus on helping clients, and giving them solid and honest advice. Once you gain trust, then they will use your services and products. I saw rapid growth in my part-time business and my brand, and my name was soon associated with greatness in my market. Then in July 2015, I was able to take a huge leap of faith and quit my full-time to pursue business full-time. I worked with Keller Williams Realty for several years and received several Multi-Million Dollar Awards. In January 2019, I stepped out of faith and started my own real estate brokerage (Friday Realty LLC). I teach, train, and motivate my team to focus on building a brand by selling themselves rather than the house, and believing in themselves. If you don’t have confidence in your services, no one else will. Real estate is a people business, we just don’t sell real estate and will build relationships. When you build relationships, then the real estate transactions atomically come.
Navigating finances in the competitive real estate market can be challenging, especially for first-time homebuyers. How did you recognize this need and what led you to create the “Faith. Finance. And Fulfillment.” planner series to address it?
As a real estate professional consulting with hundreds of individuals in the process of buying a home. I witnessed their struggle to break free from the slavery of renting and obtaining a home. Understanding the emotions and concerns of first-time home buyers is crucial. Buying a house for the first time can be incredible, and exhilarating, but that’s likely not the only emotion first-time homebuyers feel. Realizing that purchasing a home is just not a financial decision but also a deeply personal and significant life event, I saw the need to provide guidance that goes beyond just financial advice. I engaged in conversations with people who were either actively looking to purchase their first home or who had recently gone through the process. Listening to their stories, anxieties, and financial struggles provided insight into their specific pain points. I was inspired by God to be the answer to their pain points. The planners can help inspire homebuyers to overcome barriers to obtaining home ownership.
As a multi-million-dollar real estate producer with over 18 years of experience, what do you believe sets you apart in assisting first-time homebuyers to realize their homeownership dreams?
Success in this business takes hard work. My proven record of having a strong work ethic, attention to detail, personal client attention, and a stellar education have been the keys to my past and current successes.
