Brooke Jones is a modern-day renaissance woman. From starting her own intimacy wellness brand to becoming an author, she does it all. Brooke gives an inside look at how she gets it all done while living a balanced life.
What made you want to start an intimacy wellness brand?
Honestly, it was at the request of my followers. When I was selling women’s items such as lingerie and toys, my male followers would always ask me when I was going to get something from them. I thought about it for a while before I came up with the enhancement drops. At first, the drops were moving slowly but the more and more people started using them, the bigger the reviews had gotten. I just kept expanding and expanding, meeting the needs of my customers. Now, people are asking for bigger bottles of the drops and monthly supplies of my product. I know that listening to my customers was the best thing for my brand.
What do you think is the hardest part of starting a brand?
The hardest part is definitely the critics. There are people that think that we are just selling products to make money. They think that I made this up for fame. Some criticize the reviews that my customers give. That negativity may turn people off, so we have to do the extra work to show them that my products are legit. They are all natural and I put a lot of pride into the ingredients and making sure they work. It hurts when someone tries to deny the value of my brand. At first, it was more critics than supporters, but as we have grown, people support and understand the brand, and where it’s going.
How do you think social media has helped you develop your company?
Social media gave me the platform to showcase my brand. I had 300,000 followers before I had the Hidden Vault, the money, and the success. My followers were loyal and were rocking with me from the beginning. When I finally dropped my products, the support was real. Many were buying from me out of support of the girl that they watched grow on social media. I believe that social media played a big part in my brand. Even recently, when my page was deactivated, my customers were looking for me. They missed me. They really were looking to watch my growth and wanted to continue to support my business.
What does a typical day look like for you?
Even though I have a team, I am very active in my brand. I decide which products we are going to develop. I am hands-on with meeting with the manufacturers and I spend time in my store. In fact, I wear a uniform every day. My day starts with business and ends with business. I start by checking sales from the previous day and making sure that we have enough energy. I take meetings, I order inventory, I work in the store, I work with my team, I post on social media, I scope for new real estate investments, and I work on the ideas for my warehouse; I pretty much do everything in every part of my business. It is important for me to show my team and the world that being hands-on, even once things have taken off, is the way to keep things moving forward.
How do you find time for yourself?
Vacations are my thing. I did not go on a lot of vacations growing up because we just weren’t in a space to do that. So now, whenever I need to unplug or I feel like I need time to myself, I book a vacation. I also go out with my girls. Whether it’s to dinner at a steakhouse or to a Saints Game, I make time for friends and socializing. I am a hard worker and I am dedicated to my brand but I do find myself needing some time to just enjoy the fruit of my labor, and I am always happy to do that.
Do you have any new products you are excited about?
I am working on many new things but my newest products around womb wellness are so important to me. Remember, I started out with products for women and then transitioned to male products, but now the women are telling me that they need more. I have a whole product line for women to enhance the wellness of their wombs. I am excited about opening the womb wellness spa and launching the products to go with the services offered at the spa.
How long did it take you to write your book, and what challenges did you face when writing?
The idea for my book happened months before I actually started putting pen to paper. I knew that I had a great story to tell and I wanted to share it with the world. I was not sure at first where to start, but one day, I just started writing. Two months later, I had chapters. A month after that, I had a cover and a date for release. I would say the whole process took about five months but the idea was years in the making. My challenges were with editing and promoting, I knew what I wanted to say but not how I wanted to say it. I wanted to do this myself so reaching out to editors and promoters, a space that I had not ventured in was hard. I got over that and put my story out even with the challenges and I am so happy with the feedback that I have gotten. People love the story, they love the book and the scenes in the book. It is most important for me for my customers to be happy.
What advice do you have for young authors and entrepreneurs?
Honestly, I would tell everyone who wants to write a book or become an entrepreneur, to just do it. If you’re writing a book, just start writing. It does not have to be perfect at first, it just needs to get done. You don’t need to wait for a publishing deal, you can self-publish. If you’re an entrepreneur your idea is valid and it’s up to you to bring it to life. I had every reason to doubt myself and my abilities, but I did not. I went for what I wanted and that is how I got to where I am. I am a firm believer that faith and work is the key to success.
