Did you attend the probate on January 20? Pretty much everybody was in attendance, from the prophytes to the advisors and other important people. Though this saying has been the highlight of the greek world, if you did not know by now, then you should know that the current Madam Vice President Kamala Harris is a member of the Alpha chapter of Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority, Incorporated. It was only appropriate to shed light on who helped led VP Kamala Harris to this victory.
Founded in 1908 with the promotion of sisterhood, scholarship, and service, these women did not come to play when they realized who was in the running to become the next Vice President of the United States. But it was not the women of Alpha Kappa Alpha alone that wanted to support this HERstoric moment and become a part of something that will forever go down in history. So, let’s get into it. Of course, we have seen the VP in her chucks and pearls, right? Pearls have many symbols, and one can say that she wore them just for rarity.
However, the divine nine knew precisely what the pearls stood for and participated in the solidarity as VP Kamala Harris broke down the glass ceiling for “Gender barriers, racial barriers, and inequality barriers,” says Rosenberg’s mother, Rose Pickens. Joining in, the women of Zeta Phi Beta, Sorority, Incorporated, Delta Sigma Theta, Sorority, Incorporated, and Sigma Gamma Rho, Sorority, Incorporated, each wore their sorority colors and pearls to signify the support of the new Vice President of the United States. At this point, you are unable to go through social media without seeing someone wearing their chucks and pearls, even women who are not in sororities but respectively wanted to show their support for this moment.
So, ladies, turn on your Juvenile Back That Thang Up, get to strolling, and continue celebrating this momentous occasion! If you want to see more of the sororities and learn more about the divine nine, go on IG and follow @Watchtheyard.
