Chanae L. Wood Is Redefining What It Means to Build a Business Without Walking Away From Her Career

For Chanae L. Wood, Esq., ambition doesn’t require choosing one path over another. The South Florida attorney and entrepreneur is proving that professional advancement and entrepreneurship can coexist, creating room for women to pursue multiple passions without abandoning the careers they’ve worked hard to establish.

One of the youngest partners at her law firm and the first Black lead municipal attorney in Miami-Dade County, Wood has built an impressive professional portfolio while cultivating a digital community of approximately 66,000. Her entrepreneurial ventures include ROM8, the Envision Me women’s conference, and the recently launched ROM8 Beauty.

Rather than following the familiar narrative of leaving corporate America to pursue entrepreneurship full-time, Wood has chosen to build alongside her legal career. For her, entrepreneurship is not about walking away from an established foundation but using it to create something meaningful.

“I’ve never believed that entrepreneurship has to look that way for everyone,” she explains. “You can pursue your entrepreneurial dreams and still be a corporate baddie. Those identities don’t have to compete.”

That perspective has shaped the way she approaches business, leadership, and personal growth. Wood acknowledges that managing multiple responsibilities requires more than ambition. It requires structure, delegation, and an understanding that every season will demand something different.

Rather than chasing the idea of perfect balance, she prioritizes alignment. Some seasons require more attention to her legal practice, while others call for greater involvement in her businesses. She has also learned the importance of building sustainable systems, delegating responsibilities, and releasing the perfectionism that can make entrepreneurship unnecessarily demanding.

At the center of her ventures is ROM8, a company inspired by Romans 8:28 and envisioned as an umbrella for initiatives that reflect her interests and values. Through its various pillars, Wood has created opportunities to bring women together, encourage personal development, and celebrate beauty and femininity.

Envision Me grew from her involvement with Girl Power Rocks and her desire to create spaces where women could connect, grow, and envision more for their lives. What began as a community gathering has evolved into a three-day women’s conference, with the Envision Me Foundation established to support its philanthropic mission. The 2027 conference will carry the theme Envision Joy, reflecting Wood’s belief that women deserve to experience joy throughout their journeys, not simply after reaching their goals.

ROM8 Beauty offers another expression of her entrepreneurial vision, translating her personal appreciation for beauty and femininity into products designed to help women feel confident and express themselves.

Her understanding of leadership has also been shaped by her experiences in the legal profession. Becoming one of the youngest partners at her firm and the first Black lead municipal attorney for a municipality in southeastern Miami-Dade County reinforced the importance of preparation, self-advocacy, and representation.

Those accomplishments carry significance beyond professional recognition. Wood understands the responsibility of occupying spaces where Black women have historically been underrepresented, and she remains committed to creating opportunities for others through mentorship, professional development, and community initiatives.

Still, building multiple ventures while maintaining a demanding legal career has required personal adjustments. As a wife and mother, she recognizes that her professional and entrepreneurial responsibilities must coexist with her relationships and personal well-being. She is learning that being capable of doing everything doesn’t mean she should.

“I want to build a life that allows me to enjoy the things I’m working so hard to create,” she shares.

That realization has influenced how she measures success. While professional milestones and business growth remain important, her priorities have expanded to include faith, purpose, healing, and meaningful service. For Wood, success is increasingly about honoring her calling and making a genuine difference in the lives of others.

Her advice to women considering entrepreneurship while maintaining established careers is straightforward: start with what you already have. Experience, professional relationships, knowledge, and existing skills can become the foundation for a business. Rather than waiting for the perfect moment, she encourages women to identify a need they can meet and begin creating value.

She also emphasizes the importance of embracing every dimension of who you are without feeling obligated to separate your professional identity from your personal interests.

Chanae L. Wood’s journey offers a refreshing perspective on ambition. Entrepreneurship doesn’t always require a dramatic departure from the familiar. Sometimes, it means building on what you’ve already accomplished, making room for new possibilities, and allowing multiple dreams to grow together.
