Brittany Ortiz Is Moving From Power Player to Powerhouse in Media and Storytelling

Written By: Tracey Khan

In the fast-moving world of media and entertainment, Brittany Ortiz has built a career behind the scenes helping powerful voices find their platform.

As an executive producer, talent manager and creative strategist, Ortiz has spent years developing compelling stories and guiding personalities into spaces where their voices can resonate with global audiences.

Brittany Ortiz, an executive producer and talent strategist, continues to build her presence as a behind-the-scenes force shaping modern media and storytelling.

From working alongside radio legend Angie Martinez to developing emerging talent like rising fashion influencer Azzy Milan, Ortiz has established herself as one of the industry’s quiet architects, shaping the next generation of storytelling.

“I specialize in bringing powerful voices to life,” Ortiz said.

Her journey into media began with a leap of faith. Raised in Miami, Ortiz studied television, radio, and film at Syracuse University before moving to New York shortly after graduation to pursue an entertainment career.

Like many young creatives, her early years were defined by hustle. Ortiz spent countless nights attending concerts, pop-up events and backstage activations, introducing herself to anyone who might open a door into the industry.

“I would just show up wherever people in entertainment were gathering,” she said. “I was trying to get my foot in the room.”

That persistence paid off.

Within a year of moving to New York, Ortiz connected with Angie Martinez, one of the most respected voices in hip-hop media. What began as an assistant role eventually evolved into a long-term creative partnership.

Today, Ortiz serves as executive producer of the widely popular Angie Martinez IRL podcast, where she helps shape conversations with influential cultural figures. Her role includes researching guests, building interview frameworks and helping craft the storytelling approach that has made the podcast resonate with millions of listeners.

Brittany Ortiz works behind the scenes, developing content and guiding creative direction as an executive producer and media strategist.

Working alongside Martinez, Ortiz says, has been a masterclass in storytelling.

“Angie is one of the most profound storytellers I’ve ever met,” Ortiz said. “Watching how seriously she approaches interviews has taught me what it really takes to create meaningful conversations.”

One of the proudest moments in Ortiz’s career came when Angie Martinez IRL received a nomination from the NAACP during the podcast’s early years, a recognition she describes as deeply validating.

“It was the first time I had creative control on a project of that scale,” she said. “To be acknowledged at that level meant everything.”

Now Ortiz is stepping into a new chapter.

Alongside her best friend and creative partner, Brianna Dutton, she recently launched a production company dedicated to developing original content from concept to monetization. The venture focuses on nurturing ideas and building intellectual property, particularly projects that center women’s stories across platforms such as podcasts, documentaries and digital series.

Their first project, Azif show, starring Azzy Milan, blends fashion commentary with pop culture storytelling and introduces a vibrant Gen Z voice into the digital media space.

For Ortiz, the long-term vision is clear: ownership.

After years of helping shape other people’s platforms, she is now focused on building projects that she and her collaborators can fully develop and control.

“I’ve spent a lot of time helping others bring their ideas to life,” she said. “Now I want to build and own the stories we’re creating.”

Ortiz also hopes to inspire young women hoping to break into entertainment. Her advice is simple: start now.

“Whatever idea you have in your mind, start working on it today,” she said. “You don’t need the entire plan. Just take the next step.”

It is a philosophy that has guided her own career, one step at a time, from Miami to New York, from assistant to executive producer, and now to entrepreneur.

And if her trajectory is any indication, Brittany Ortiz is only just getting started.
