Crystal Nicole is a beauty, lifestyle, and fashion content creator who has mastered the art of turning everyday self-care into storytelling. Known to her community as CurlieCrys, she inspires over a million followers across platforms through her focus on natural haircare, skincare, and home aesthetics. But before her life behind the camera, Crystal was a civil engineer—a career that taught her discipline, structure, and precision. In 2017, she took a leap of faith, leaving her engineering job to pursue content creation full time after noticing a lack of educational resources for women embracing their natural hair textures.
That leap was transformative. What began as simple tutorials and product reviews evolved into a creative platform rooted in authenticity, growth, and legacy. Her polished video edits reflect her engineering background, while her message emphasizes emotional connection and purpose. Crystal doesn’t just teach her audience how to care for curls or decorate their homes—she encourages them to reconnect with their sense of self.

“Honestly, it took a mix of faith, planning, and trusting my vision,” she says about her career shift. “Engineering gave me a foundation in discipline and structure, all of which I now use in my creative process. But content creation gives me freedom and purpose. I still think like an engineer—just with a more creative blueprint that is far more rewarding.”
As CurlieCrys, she has become a trusted voice in the natural hair community. “The most rewarding part has been seeing how my content truly helps people,” she shares. “When someone tells me they finally feel confident wearing their natural hair because of something I shared, that’s the best feeling. It reminds me that this is bigger than just hair—it’s about self-love and empowerment.”
Crystal’s storytelling often carries deeper themes of healing and self-discovery. “Beauty and lifestyle go far beyond what we see on the surface,” she explains. “They’re deeply connected to how we feel about ourselves. I intentionally weave in self-discovery and healing by creating content that encourages reflection and authenticity. I see my obstacles as opportunities to grow and to create lessons others can learn from too.”
Her sincerity and attention to detail have led to collaborations with iconic brands including Youth to the People, Kiehl’s, Charlotte Tilbury, Olay, Aveeno, and SheaMoisture.
“If I don’t actually use and believe in a product, I won’t promote it,” she says. “My audience trusts me, and I take that seriously. I gravitate toward brands that align with my lifestyle and message, especially the ones I grew up with, like Olay and SheaMoisture. There’s a sense of nostalgia that makes those partnerships even more meaningful.”
This year, Crystal expanded her reach beyond social media. She moderated the 2025 CurlyCon, spoke at the 2025 Sephora Impact Summit, and served as a keynote speaker at the WEB ‘Who Is She’ Brunch in Charlotte, North Carolina. “Stepping onto live stages has shown me how much bigger my purpose is,” she reflects. “It’s expanded my vision beyond content creation into true impact. Every stage reminds me that when you walk in purpose, doors open that you never even knew existed.”
Crystal Nicole continues to redefine what it means to be a modern creator—one who merges intellect, artistry, and faith to build something far greater than influence. For her, this is not just about beauty. It’s about purpose, power, and legacy.
