Celebrating 10 Years of B the Buzz Agency

A decade ago, B the Buzz Agency was born out of a closed door. At just 22 years old and fresh out of a top Southern journalism program, its founder Sarah Busby faced the hard truth many graduates encounter: talent alone doesn’t always open doors. Despite hands-on experience as a student news anchor and reporter, interviews remained elusive. But instead of waiting for permission, she created her own path. Inspired by a friend navigating similar roadblocks in Atlanta, she took a leap and launched B the Buzz—a public relations agency built to make sure others could be seen and heard when the system tried to silence them.

From day one, the mission was clear: amplify voices, tell powerful stories, and create access to platforms often reserved for a select few.

Ten years later, B the Buzz has done just that, reshaping Atlanta’s media landscape and impacting communities far beyond city lines. Among the most defining milestones was leading PR efforts for Mother Viola Ford Fletcher, the oldest living survivor of the Tulsa Massacre.

“Being entrusted with her story at 110 years old—it was a full circle moment,” the founder recalls. “As a Black business owner, helping tell the story of the original Black Wall Street meant everything.”

Another standout moment came in collaboration with a literary organization supporting independent authors and creatives. From planning to press, B the Buzz elevated diverse voices and brought major sponsors and networks into the fold—cementing the agency’s reputation as a force for cultural storytelling and inclusive visibility.

But the agency’s influence extends beyond PR. Through its internship program, dozens of Gen Z students have gained hands-on experience in communications, branding, and digital media. The founder has embraced their perspective, recognizing how their tech fluency and fresh ideas have strengthened agency operations.

“They introduced tools we’d never even heard of,” she says. “Our interns have saved us time and money. They’ve helped us innovate.”

This approach aligns seamlessly with initiatives like Mayor Andre Dickens’ youth employment program. For the founder, investing in young talent is personal. “I started this business at 22 after feeling invisible to the industry. That’s why I’ve made youth mentorship a cornerstone of what we do.”

She’s committed to offering more than just internships—her goal is to provide meaningful, empowering experiences that pave the way for the next generation.

From launching solo to leading a thriving agency, the lessons over the years have been hard-won and deeply insightful. She emphasizes that branding is never static—“It should always be evolving”—and that visibility requires a layered, ongoing strategy, not just a viral moment. But perhaps the biggest key to success? Staying rooted in your mission.

“Trends will come and go. The brands that last are the ones that evolve while staying true to their purpose.”

With summer on the horizon, the founder encourages local businesses to sharpen their communication strategies. She suggests using this season to reassess goals, invest in paid digital efforts, and embrace platforms like webinars and email marketing. “Don’t just rely on social media,” she advises. “Build real authority. Use your voice in layered ways.”

Looking ahead, B the Buzz is stepping into a bold new chapter. The agency is preparing to launch Buzz Builder: The Ultimate DIY PR Guide to Pitching Yourself Without a PR Agency—a practical, empowering resource for solopreneurs, nonprofits, and small businesses.

“I’m tired of seeing people with powerful stories think they need a huge budget to be heard. This guide is for them,” she says. “I want people to use it and come back saying, ‘I landed this opportunity because of your pitch strategy.’ That’s the impact I’m aiming for.”

The next decade holds even bigger dreams: deeper partnerships with universities, expansion into corporate and entertainment sectors, and evolving into a full-scale communications hub for training and development.

For the founder, it’s all about legacy—one rooted in access, education, and real impact. Ten years down, and B the Buzz is just getting started.
