Imagine this, you’ve met an amazing person who you connect with and enjoy spending all your time. You both decide to make things official, but there’s a catch; they keep in contact with their ex! Could you handle that? Well chile, this summer, TLC will release a show that takes viewers inside the unique relationships of five couples on their new series, “You, Me, & My Ex.” The show follows the couples, who are dealing with an ex still tied to their past partner, and based on the trailer let’s just say, it doesn’t look like things are always blissful! Kayee Lovey is one of the women who is dating a guy whose ex is still tied to him and she shared with us what the experience on the show was like.
What was the experience like being on the show with your boyfriend and his ex-wife?
This experience was so full of overwhelming emotions and enormous loads of vulnerability. Being on the show with them was the highlight of my year! I really loved doing interviews in between because it really helped me express myself….it actually felt like therapy.
Do you feel like the show has changed you and Jerry’s relationship?
No, I wouldn’t say change. It’s more like the show helped to reveal the things I would normally miss about myself and others….a couple of hard lessons needed to be learned and I believe I learned them.
What are you hoping people will learn about you after watching the show?
I hope they learn that I’m just a “cover girl of lovers’ world,” which is a title I came up with for those who stand up for love despite their unique scars life has scraped across them. I also hope they learn my humor, my facial expressions, and my endless voices. I swear the day I see or hear someone understand me like that, I’ll probably fall over from laughing!! I’m a very complex woman…. imagine being culturized by your Filipino/Latino family and the other part of you is heavily rooted as an Egyptian!!! Woah, I think this is the first time in my life that I’ve written all of myself in a sentence… feels amazing and I am proud to be a beautiful cultural mess!
What can our readers expect if they tune into the show?
Your readers can expect a roller coaster of emotions. From jaw-dropping moments of shock to sobbing sadness into a pillow to sitting at the edge of your couch anxiously waiting for someone to get their ass handed to them and even moments that will have them questioning life itself!
What other projects do you have going on aside from the show?
On June 24th, I will be releasing my single ‘Let The Music Play’, which is from my upcoming debut album that will be distributed to all platforms.
Also, I am currently raising money that will help me build a non-profit organization called The H.E.A.L Foundation (Helping Euphony Alleviate Loss). This is a foundation that will help provide healing through music for orphans and orphanages that suffer from abuse and loss.
