There were also special appearances made throughout the evening from the City of South Fulton’s Mayor Khalid Kamau, Trina Braxton (WEtv’s The Braxtons), Terri J. Vaughn (Steve Harvey Show), Karon Joseph Riley (BET’s The Black Hamptons), Headkrack (Dish Nation), LaTavia Roberson (original member of R&B super group Destiny’s Child). The evening was hosted by Big Tigger (V-103’s The Big Tigger Show) with music by Debonair DJ Pnut (V103). There were also special performances from NBAF’s Move/Dance students, The Drew Charter Dance Ensemble, NBAF Artist Project Fund Recipients, Poetry on Peter, and a special 10, 000 2024 Horizon Award for Emerging Artist presentation to harpist, Angelica Hairston. All in all there was dancing, good music, and art on display all in the name of supporting black artists.
NBAF Executive Director, Stephanie Owens says, “We are so fortunate to have the immense support of the NBAF community, especially because funding for arts programs continues to be cut around the country and for Black arts programs at an even more astronomical rate. That’s why NBAF’s mission remains critical as we are focused on providing Black artists with exposure and much-needed resources to support them in their creative endeavors. Black art has made a monumental impact on the world as we know it, and it’s important that we continue to give back and support it.”
