As we enter the month of October, we wish to shine a light on Esther Tambe who is the co-founder and executive director of Fight Through Flights, Inc. Fight Through Flights is a DC-based 501(c)(3)non-profit organization that supports and empowers the healing of Black women with breast cancer by providing free wellness retreats and travel experiences to Black women living with breast cancer and breast cancer survivors.
Fight Through Flights supports the healing of Black women who have lived with breast cancer by providing free wellness retreats, travel experiences, mental health, nutrition, and fitness resources. Since 2020, they have awarded over 150 Black women free experiences through their five launched programs and partnered with over 75 organizations for these opportunities across 25 states. The impact goes far beyond these numbers. Recipients have been mothers and daughters, neighbors, sisters-in-law, and leaders in the community. These individuals have been recently diagnosed with Stage 1 to living with metastatic breast cancer, 20-year survivors, recently divorced, exploring genetic testing, and celebrating their cancerversaries. Fight Through Flights, Inc. hosts and creates safe places for Black women who need to recharge, which often refuels them to return to those they serve in the breast cancer community.
