Grammy Award winner opens Flytime’s December season on December 20, continuing more than two decades of bringing global music icons to African audiences
LAGOS, Nigeria – October 9, 2026 – Flytime today announced that GRAMMY® Award-winning singer, songwriter and actress Brandy will headline Flytime’s House of R&B, sponsored by Glenmorangie, on Sunday, December 20, at the Eko Convention Centre in Lagos. The concert opens six nights of Flytime events, bringing together international superstars, African music icons and audiences from around the world during Lagos’s December season.
Widely regarded as one of the most influential voices in contemporary R&B, Brandy has shaped the sound of the genre for more than three decades. Affectionately known as “The Vocal Bible,” she has inspired generations of artists with her distinctive vocal arrangements, harmonies and musical innovation. From her multi-platinum debut album to the GRAMMY-winning global hit “The Boy Is Mine,” Brandy’s influence extends far beyond commercial success and continues to resonate with artists and audiences worldwide.
The announcement follows a milestone year for the singer. In 2026, Brandy was honored with the Black Music Icon Award by the Recording Academy and its Black Music Collective, released her memoir PHASES, which debuted at No. 1 on The New York Times Best Seller list, and received a star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame. Her Lagos performance brings that momentum to one of the world’s most vibrant and rapidly growing live entertainment markets.
Founded in 2004 by entertainment entrepreneur Cecil Hammond, Flytime has played a significant role in the evolution of Nigeria’s live music industry. From the pioneering Rhythm Unplugged concert series to the development of Flytime Fest, the company has helped make Lagos a destination for artists and fans alike. Over the past two decades, Flytime’s stages have welcomed Wizkid, Burna Boy, Davido, Tems, Rema, Asake, Olamide, Megan Thee Stallion, Gunna, Boyz II Men, Bobby Brown and Bell Biv DeVoe.

“Brandy is one of the most influential voices in R&B, and bringing her to the Flytime stage is incredibly special,” said Cecil Hammond, Founder and Chief Executive Officer of Flytime. “We’ve watched Lagos grow into a global destination for music and entertainment over the past two decades, and we’re proud to have played a part in that journey. Brandy represents everything Flytime’s House of R&B celebrates, and she is the perfect artist to open our December season.”
“Every year, we challenge ourselves to raise the standard of live entertainment in Lagos,” added Keke Hammond, Chief Operating Officer of Flytime. “This December brings six nights, each with its own identity and experience. Opening with an artist of Brandy’s caliber sets the tone for the performances and hospitality our guests can expect all season.”
Each December, Lagos fills with Nigerians from across the diaspora, international visitors and music lovers drawn to the city’s culture, nightlife and live music during the season known as Detty December. Flytime’s concerts have become a fixture of that calendar. The 2025 edition featured Rema, Central Cee, Davido, Asake, Olamide and Flavour, with peak attendance approaching 20,000 fans and multiple sold-out shows.
