  Studies indicate that Black women are at a higher risk of experiencing sexual violence. In the United States, 38% of Black women have reported instances of sexual violence apart from rape in their lifetime. Additionally, survivors of sexual violence within the Black community have often utilized the practice of forgetting as a coping mechanism for multiple generations.
