Dr. Dionne Mahaffey and Culture Greetings

Dr. Dionne Mahaffey is a tech entrepreneur, author, business-psychologist and owner of Culture Greetings!

Culture Greetings is an innovative greeting card platform that allows users to choose a greeting card, write a personal note using handwriting fonts that mirror real penmanship, and click “send,” cuing print. The company then mails the card directly to the recipient the following business day, saving customers a trip to the store.
The Atlanta-based company seeks to fill the multi-cultural gap in the greeting card industry partnering with renowned African American artists like Steve R. Allen and others, to create bespoke images and recreations of popular pieces.

What inspired your brand?

I send a lot of greeting cards in the mail, but don’t always have time to run to the store. So I leveraged my technology expertise to launch Culture Greetings, to offer contemporary African American greeting cards. On the automated platform you can pick a card and write a note inside using handwriting fonts that mirror real penmanship.  Then using automation, we print and mail the cards directly to your recipients.

What sets your brand apart from the competitors?

I learned from personal experience and extensive research that making multiple trips to the store and post office to send a card isn’t a viable option for most busy people. Social media, while a convenient way to say Happy Birthday or Congratulations, often fail at delivering a true personal connection. So, Culture Greetings merges the best of both worlds by marrying the traditional social interaction of greeting cards with 21st century technology.

Outside of the business, what other projects are you involved in?

I spend a lot of time volunteering and finding ways to give back to the community.  Also, I founded the Atlanta Chapter of the Awesome Foundation for the Arts and Sciences.  We give out a $1000 small grant each month to a worthy cause.

How have you managed to stay productive during quarantine?

Nothing has changed for me as it relates to my productivity.  I’m always focused on innovating so that’s what I’ve been doing while home. Staying safe is paramount for me and so I encourage everyone around me to focus on what’s good in your life and create a vision for the good you want to receive and then work on manifesting that reality for yourself daily.
