WeTV’s “CUTTING IT IN THE ATL” STAR MAJA SLY AIMS TO REDUCE HOME OWNERSHIP, ENTREPRENEURSHIP, AND WEALTH DISPARITIES AMONG BLACK WOMEN WITH THE LIFE-CHANGING 2ND ANNUAL DINNER AT DUSK POLO CLASSIC

Maja Sly’s “Power of One” ideology, believing one relationship, connection, idea, or person can change the trajectory of life, has propelled her into being a successful multi-million-dollar serial entrepreneur, owner of several brands, including Pretty Hair and Walk-In Weaves, and an affordable housing advocate.

SEPTEMBER 2023 – Atlanta, GA.“Cutting It In The ATL” “voice of reason” star and one of Atlanta’s most powerful and influential women entrepreneurs, Maja Sly, owner of Pretty Hair and Walk-in Weaves, returns with the highly anticipated 2nd Annual Dinner at Dusk Polo Classic Legacy on the Green on Sunday, September 17, from 1 to 6 p.m. Using her “Power of One” ideology, Maja aims to align Black women with resources and relationships to change the trajectory of their lives and families legacies by introducing one connection, idea or person. More information, including ticket purchases and sponsorship opportunities, is available on the event website at thedinneratdusk.com.

“My one decision to attend college at Alabama Agricultural and Mechanical University has changed the trajectory of my family’s legacy,” states Maja. “It has always taken one person to connect me with another person to change everything about a situation. All things are transferable, but one introduction, person, and idea can change everything.”

The inspiration for Dinner at Dusk originates from Maja’s desire to celebrate a business feature in the digital and print versions of the esteemed “Essence” Magazine with local and leading Atlanta female executives whose businesses survived and thrived during the COVID-19 pandemic. The overwhelming success of the single five-star, five-course dinner party has sparked a movement. With encouragement from close friends and an abundance of invite requests, Maja curated another dining experience where, for the first time, she realized the devastating income and wealth disparities among women, especially those of color.

“We are purposeful in fundraising for educational scholarships and funding for homeownership – the two foundations in helping communities of color bridge the wealth gap,” she states. “If we do not own anything, there is no way to close the racial wealth gap.”

This year’s honorees are Media Personality and BET+ “All The Queen’s Men’s” Actress Rashan Ali, Invest Atlanta’s Director of Homeownership and Single Family Services Anita Allgood, The Anderson Firm Founder and Owner Precious Anderson, Esq., Southern First Bank’s Mortgage Executive Katherine Busch, Emmy Award-winning Anchor Justin Farmer of WSB-TV Channel 2 Atlanta, AG Entertainment Founder and Chief Executive Officer Alex Gidewon, City of Atlanta Municipal Court Judge and “The Daughter of A Junkie: A True Love Story” Author Terrinee Gundy, “Vault Empowers Talks” Host and Beyond Her Founder and President Brandi Harvey, Real Estate Mogul Brandi Hunter-Lewis, The Student Loan Doctor Founder and CEO Sonia Lewis, Bravo’s “Below Deck” Cast Member and The Look by Joi Founder and Owner Joi Mebane and Breast Health Physician and Cancer Awareness Advocate Dr. April Spencer.

The Dinner at Dusk is a lavish evening overflowing with engaging and strengthening testimonies from honorees, networking opportunities with senior executive women business leaders, and thought-provoking discussions about marketing and innovation, business capital funding, and student resources and tools.

“I want my guests to see Atlanta as a magical city unlike any other city in the world,” states Maja. “Atlanta has an abundance of educated and third generation freed Black people living next door to anyone. Since I started coming here in high school, I knew Atlanta was a city where the possibilities were endless for me so long as I was myself and worked hard.” Past notable Dinner at Dusk Polo Classic guests are Todd Brown, Ted Fasan, Miss Lawrence, and Honoree, Actor, Activist, and “Married to Medicine” Creator Mariah Huq.

St. Royale premium vodka and Woodson Whiskey by Charles Woodson are the proud sponsors of the 2023 event.
