Manifest Your Purpose with Saria Hawkins-Banda

Every year, on August 1st, planner enthusiasts celebrate Planner Day. This day offers the opportunity to reflect on how planners can enhance their lives as organizational tools. Furthermore, there is a noteworthy black-owned brand dedicated to helping individuals plan with purpose.

Meet Saria Hawkins-Banda, the amazing Founder/CEO of Manifest Your Purpose. She’s a true mompreneur who takes pride in running her rapidly growing company while raising her two children alongside her husband Lewis. Meanwhile, Saria is a passionate planner who loves to help others plan with purpose using her chic and functional stationery. She’s on a mission to spread a little #BlackGirlMagic wherever she goes by creating products that celebrate the beauty and complexity of Black women. Her ultimate goal is to remind Black women that they deserve to be celebrated simply for existing, and she won’t rest until that becomes the norm.

Take a look at our chat with her below in a recent interview.

Let’s admit that we all can use more organization in our life. What made you start your business and how has it helped change the way you accomplish your goals?

Honestly, my business is an extension of who I am. I’ve always been a natural planner and organizer and I started my business to allow Black women like me to learn how to plan with purpose while also celebrating our culture!

For those who often forget to write everything down, what advice do you have on how it can make your life better?

Do a brain dump at the beginning of every week! It’s such a cathartic process and it reduces anxiety. When you know what to expect out of your week, it allows you to take control over your days rather than feeling like they are controlling you!

What were some of your goals this year, and how did planning help you reach them?

One of my biggest goals was to show up BIGGER and BETTER for Essence Fest this year. Not only did I start planning six months ahead regarding booth design and developing products, but I also budgeted ahead which really helped with cash flow as we got closer to the event!

There is a thing called the 369 Method and it is a strong belief that when you write down things, it brings them to fruition faster. Have you heard of this method and if so what are your beliefs about it?

I’ve never heard of this method in particular but it does remind me of Habakkuk 2:2 which is the theme scripture of my business. The Lord commanded his prophet to write his vision down and make it plain and that it would surely come to fruition if he waited on the appointed time. This scripture informs ALL that I do!

What other projects do you have in the works that readers can look forward to?

We just released a deck of affirmation cards and they are taking the market by storm! We sold HUNDREDS of decks at Essence Fest and several celebrities took a deck (or two or three) home with them including Tabitha Brown, Courtney Adeyele, and Mz. Skittles!  I am also developing several new products for the holidays!

It’s time to start the month of August off planning properly!
