Dr. Briana Brazile and Tatyania Moorehead joined forces to create Infinity Smiles, a dental practice in the Charlotte community. With the same vision in mind, their aim was to boost patients’ confidence by offering dental healthcare and education. They also support health initiatives as well as provide scholarship opportunities to students who are interested in pursuing STEM careers.
Dr. Moorehead and Brazile met while in dentistry school and started working together in the surrounding area of Charlotte. They both had such a strong desire to help others that they made the decision to bring that enthusiasm back to Charlotte, North Carolina, specifically in the area of dental health. With their combined skills, Drs. Brazile and Moorehead started to apply their newly gained knowledge to the gaping hole in the Charlotte metro area’s dental and oral health care network. At Infinity Smiles, offering expertise is their first priority.

Can you describe the mission and vision of Infinity Smiles and how it differs from traditional dental practices?
We exist to educate our patients, elevate our team, and empower our community to smile for a lifetime. We envision a modern, sleek, fun environment where we can provide predictable dentistry where patients feel like they’re being educated on their treatment options, empowered to have the smile they desire from team members that constantly feel elevated to be the best they can be. We do not believe in looking at just one tooth and diagnosing that, but rather the smile and how it’s connected to the entire body!
What inspired Dr. Tatyania Moorehead and Dr. Briana Brazile to establish Infinity Smiles and address the dental and oral health care gaps in the Charlotte metro area?
Growing up in a military family, Dr. Tatyania Moorehead traveled the world before settling in Charlotte, NC. She has lived as far as Japan but was excited to make the Carolinas home her last stop!
Dr. Briana Brazile was born and raised in Charlotte, NC, and is thrilled to be practicing in her hometown. When considering a dental practice home- she did not have to think twice about the city! It has always been a dream to practice in the Queen City and serve in the community that raised her.
Whether local, regional, or international- both doctors have been thrilled to provide community service in Charlotte, Durham, Winston- Salem, and Malawi!
How does Dr. Moorehead’s background in Applied Mathematics and Dr. Brazile’s multicultural heritage contribute to their approach to providing dental healthcare and education?
Dr. Briana Brazile grew up celebrating both her North Carolinian and Panamanian roots. Where most majored in Biology or science, she enjoyed majoring in something that allowed her to continue learning about her Afro-Latina heritage. She has been very surprised with how helpful it’s been as Charlotte has one of the fastest-growing Latino populations in North Carolina.
There is no shortage of number crunching on Dr. Moorehead’s end that has allowed her to utilize her applied Mathematics degree. She thoroughly enjoys formatting spreadsheets, and calculating insurance claims!
Your company’s values are, to empower, educate and elevate. Why are those three so important?
We exist to educate our patients. Oftentimes patients can feel silenced in the doctor’s office and feel as if they do not have a voice or a choice in their healthcare plan. We want our patients to feel like they are making educated decisions. We want to elevate our team members. We can not drive this ship by ourselves, therefore we want to empower our team with education and tools to thrive in their position. This will inadvertently help more patients and help the practice grow! We want to empower our community to smile for a lifetime. We know the power of a smile and how that can truly instill confidence and help live a longer, healthier lifestyle!
Could you provide insights into the specific health initiatives and scholarship opportunities offered by Infinity Smiles?
We just hosted our first annual health fair in June 2023, where we raised funds for a scholarship for high school students who are interested in science, technology, engineering, or mathematics. Our goal was to raise $1000 before the end of the year and we want to extend it to a $5000 goal next year! There are so many financial barriers that exist when you’re headed to college so we just hope this can help a student who will ultimately give back to the community we serve.
In regard to health initiatives, we thrive off of collaboration within our community. For example, we worked with a pharmacist, optometrist, personal trainer, pediatric dentist, and periodontist during our health fair. We aspire for this to be an annual event where we can incorporate chiropractors, paramedics, nurses, first aid, firefighter, etc to raise awareness about overall health and wellness preparedness.
Can you provide more information about African Americans and LatinX Oral Health, Sleep Apnea Awareness, and Preventative Care?
Yes, the African American and LatinX communities are at high risk for periodontal disease, diabetes, hypertension as well as sleep apnea. There are signs in the oral cavity that a dentist can determine if an official sleep test needs to be completed. We have learned that underdeveloped facial features in the early stages of life can be affiliated with Alzheimer, hypertension, diabetes, and sleep apnea in the later years of life. This is why it’s important to visit your dentist at least twice a year!
How does Infinity Smiles plan to engage with different levels of education, from elementary to undergraduate, to promote dental education among students?
We are constantly elevating and improving our plan. To date, we plan to be a consistent company in our community that will provide oral hygiene instruction to different schools, and volunteer for career days to show that representation does matter. We currently have our first intern high school student who is interested in pursuing dentistry and continues to offer this every summer. We also want to offer an internship for undergraduate students as well as scholarships to alleviate some of the financial burdens associated with the school.
