Keeyen is an RnB singer from Charlotte, NC, he grew up like most PK kids in the church and was trained musically by his grandma mother, and father from the age of two. He sang in numerous choirs and talent shows across his hometown which got him recognition as a hidden talent in the city.
With dreams of going on tour and getting the attention of major A&Rs Keeyen decided to take his talents to Atlanta, GA where he attended Morehouse College on a Michael Jackson Scholarship. During his time at Morehouse, he released his first mixtape, got asked to be a part of VH1’s Save the Music project, and even got offered his FIRST record deal.
Unfortunately, his deal was short-lived and his project was shelved, but like most upcoming artists that didn’t stop Keeyen. He decided to take his career by the buckle and bootstrap as an independent artist. Since his graduation from Morehouse, he has amassed many achievements as an independent artist such as Spotify trending artist, back to back sold tours with Sofar Sounds, Going on the Donda tour with Kanye West, and touring internationally in Italy just to name a few.
Not to mention he is a musical director/teacher for the Atlanta Music Project, an organization aimed to teach music and provide opportunities for local talent in the Atlanta area.
Now ten years after his first record deal, he dropped his debut EP on April 14th, 2023. His EP entitled “Neutral” is a collective of tracks that include live instrumentals, catchy melodies, and soulful vocals that express Keeyen’s life experiences. The word NEUTRAL is used as a synonym for relaxing or yielding into the person you are meant to be. As he states ” It’s perfectly okay to be who you are, the world awaits our authenticity, and being yourself will lead you to living your wildest dreams.”
This project is sure to bring audiences through an experience that will leave them reminiscing on their own life experiences and how far they have come.
