As We March Forward, Let’s Get Well With Elle Brown

It still amazes me how many people still don’t understand that we are what we eat and that eating dead foods is killing our bodies. I myself struggled and suffered from obesity, diabetes, migraines, and even mood swings until I changed the way I ate.  The more living foods we eat the more life we add to our bodies. As we’re eager to enforce healthier eating habits we’re taking time out to acknowledge influencers that are influencing healthier lifestyles. Getting Well with Elle, a native of New Orleans, LA,  is one way to start your healthier lifestyle.

Elena “Elle” Brown is a wellness influencer on a mission to break generational curses by building generational health one juice at a time. Her own journey started when her daughter was having skin issues and she consulted with a holistic doctor. This inspired her to tackle her own health issues holistically. She then started sharing her new juice lifestyle on social media and since sharing, she has gained a huge following. Let’s continue to help her grow as we grow more healthy with her guidance. What an amazing opportunity it is to have a discussion with Elle.

FEMI Magazine (Keziah Preston): Can you share some of the health issues you suffered from before juicing?

Elle: One of the issues I constantly dealt with was anemia. I don’t ever remember taking a blood test and having normal iron levels. My doctor would then just suggest an over-the-counter iron pill, which would increase my iron levels to some degree, but also had its own (not so great) side effects. Juicing and herbal supplements have definitely helped me to increase my iron and resolve anemia which I am so thankful for.

In what ways have you noticed the positive health effects of juicing?

Elle: There are so many! The most noticeable is the amount of energy I have now. The boost of vitamins and minerals received from juicing is quickly absorbed into the body and helps reduce fatigue.

What are some diet changes you highly recommend when transitioning how you eat?

Elle: The number one thing I always recommend is removing, or at least significantly reducing, sugar intake! Refined sugar can wreak havoc on the body and may increase the risk of so many things like diabetes, heart disease, and even some cancers. Reducing fried and processed foods and incorporating more fresh, whole fruits and vegetables is also a great idea.

What new goals do you have in motion for the New Year?

Elle: My main goal this year is to continue educating people on the importance and healing nature of fruits, vegetables, and herbs. There’s so much we don’t know, so much that hasn’t been brought to the mainstream that could help our communities in the prevention of many lifestyle diseases so I want to continue helping in that way.

What’s your go-to juice recipe for kids?

Elle: Kids are so much fun to juice for because you can sneak veggies in right underneath their noses! I would say keep it simple for them (and you) and try juicing only two ingredients at a time, i.e orange + carrot or spinach + apple, or grapes + cucumbers.

For upcoming Health influencers, what are some of the main things you should focus on when promoting the health needs of others?

Elle: Always lead with integrity, love, and authenticity. I believe it’s also very important to educate yourself, that can mean reading books, taking classes, or obtaining certifications for some. This will help you not only walk confidently in your field, but it will also enable you to help people achieve results that could change their lives.
