Black Writers Weekend 23′ Film Festival Submissions Are Open

CALLING ALL WRITERS!

Black Writers Weekend is a literary arts and community-driven festival, powered by AAMBC Inc., that has been recognized as a dynamic interactive literary arts experience developed by Creatives for Creatives and culture lovers. It’s dedicated to celebrating and honoring Black literary creatives in publishing and film, it returns in 2023 as a 3-Day in-person experience. Because of the popularity and mission to cultivate and create better platforms for Creatives to share and produce relevant content. The 2023 festival will feature three BIG events in one weekend; Cre8tiveCon, Lit Crawl, and the AAMBC Literary Awards. It will also feature social gatherings, live artists’ conversations, a mass book signing with dozens of writers, film screenings, masterclasses, a pitch fest, VIP lounges, and activations, as well as a street festival featuring vendors, music, food, and more. During Cre8tivecon, have your film screened in front of hundreds of culture lovers, media, and emerging filmmakers that are rising in the film and television industry.
Submission Rules
Submission Criteria:
20 minutes minimum run time inclusive of credits. Pilot episodes of a web series are acceptable. Films must have been directed and/or written by a person of African descent.
Entrants must be 18 years of age or older. The competition is open to U.S. and international entries. Films must be in the English language or contain English-language subtitles. Films must have commenced principal photography on or after January 1, 2022.

Awards & Prizes
Ten films will be selected to screen during the weekend.
Your film will be presented to a panel of directors and producers currently in Hollywood!
One grand prize winner will receive a $500 cash prize!
