She’s the CEO and Founder of Vegan Connect Technologies and a graduate of North Carolina A&T State University, where she majored in Science in Graphic Communication System. Jahlisa has hit the ground running since her graduation being active with mentoring students and speaking at HBCUs regarding the importance of representing in the tech industry. This on-demand food delivery app caters to the plant-based lifestyle. According to Jahlisa Misenheimer, Vegan Connect is similar to restaurant delivery apps DoorDash, Grubhub, and UberEats. She has crafted a niche that will simply the demands of the vegan industry with concentrated details on where to find various menu items and how to access reservations at various locations across the country.
We got a chance to catch up with Jahlisa Misenheimer to learn more about her journey in tech and learn about Vegan Connect Technologies.
Before we get started, can you tell us a little about yourself?
Hi, I’m Jahlisa Misenheimer, a Charlotte, NC native who’s a devout foodie and tech lover.
I’m the founder and CEO of Vegan Connect Technologies – The world’s first on-demand delivery service for vegans. With over 6 years in the tech industry, I apply my knowledge and experience to develop industry-leading products for various corporations. I enjoy working with start-ups and mentoring jr designers.
Tell us about Vegan Connect Technologies.
Vegan Connect Technologies was founded in 2019 with a mission to make vegan food more accessible within communities of all sizes. We believe in convenience and giving the plant-based lifestyle the exclusive platform it deserves. We describe ourselves as innovation catalysts, developing products, working together with partners in a thriving industry, transforming ideas into reality, and scaling them into business opportunities.
What made you so passionate about technology?
I’ve always been drawn to technology and staying up to date with modern trends and products since I was a child. I think it’s my passion for continuous learning that coexists with the rapid advancement of the tech industry. Anything is possible, and everything is open for interpretation.
How did you end up combining food and technology?
I wanted to merge the two things I enjoy most in life. I also began learning more about the plant-based industry and realized it would eventually need its own space within the industry.
What obstacles have you faced while being the CEO of Vegan Connect Technologies?
Having limited resources as a start-up. Being a “techie”, it was easy for me to create the product but I had to learn, and essentially teach myself the business side of entrepreneurship.
Do you feel like women CEOs don’t get the same support as male CEOs?
Yes. While I see more and more opportunities for advancement, support, and recognition every day. Women often have to battle with proving their worth.
What are some ways that women CEOs can be more included in the business world?
Start off by displaying the confidence that comes along with leadership, and knowing what you bring to the table. Being social and making connections while flexing your skills and passion.
Where do you see your company in the next five years?
I see us being recognized as a leading global brand. Developing products and experiences that diminish logistical and demographic issues in the plant-based industry.
