Syndie Prevost was born and raised in Haiti, Relocating to the states at 20 years old ready for new beginnings . Her love and passion for natural hair since her teenage years fueled her on her journey to her own natural hair care line. As time passed she found herself battling depression during the beginning of her marriage which put a pause In her persistence. However using her psych nurse expertise she took the time needed to rebuild herself which brought about the rebirth of Maraboo Cosmetics.
How old were you the first time you put fruit in your hair and what was the first fruit you ever used?
I was 17. I loved mixing banana, avocado and coconut together!
How long did you use your fruit and food hair routine before you started to turn it into a business?
I used to make my own products randomly during my teens years, but actually took mixing my own products seriously after my big hair chop in 2015.
What is something you would tell yourself 10 years ago?
Oh Lord!!! Baby girl; be fierce! Don’t listen to that voice in your head that makes you feel inadequate or to the one that makes you think that your dreams are either too crazy or too big to achieve.
What advice would you give to those inspired by you?
Own your journey! As much as I feel grateful to inspire someone; I want them to know that I get scared, I get confused, and get discouraged. I say this to get them to understand that these are human thoughts and feelings. It is ok to feel that way. However, to always remember their why. That is what will push them to the finished line!
Do you have a vision for Maraboo Cosmetics at any major retail stores you can share with us?
Maraboo Cosmetics will be a reference in all the major retail stores. Don’t want to jinx it lol.
When you’ve faced challenges during the process as a business owner what inspired you to keep going?
My babies! I want this to work so much not only for them to be proud of their mama, but also to have the freedom to be with them, and to provide for them.
