Neisha Cooper is a native of Miami, Florida known to the world as Nikki Natural. As a rising star in the music world today, the business owner and CEO of the Alliance Music Group, with a college degree in Criminal Justice has become a household name while featuring on the popular Reality Show VH1’s Love & Hip Hop Miami. With the platform she has built, she encourages women of color to be themselves. And with a rapidly growing fan base and authentic personality, Nikki Natural is Miami’s next big thing with a mission to show the world how talented she truly is.
Nikki was gracious enough to have an interview with us at Femi Magazine, where she openly talks about her journey through life and pursuing different things.
You have many talents. From acting, music to developing brands, which one are you really focusing on and is taking the lead in your life?
That’s a funny question because I feel as though the more I focus on my music the more acting roles and opportunities pop up for me. I have a refined love for them both and I’ve been put in a position in my life to be able to enjoy both Acting & Rapping equally and at that point, the brand pretty much develops itself. “Brown Baby” – It’s the epitome of the powerful limitless female and male! I’m multitalented, so I take every opportunity and seize it.
Do you believe that Love and Hip Hop Miami really captured you to the fullest?
Absolutely NOT! Love and Hip Hop captured the reality of what they felt was best for their version of TV. Unfortunately, they didn’t get to capture me or much of anything about my Real Life! I’m A Basketball Coach, A Professional Medical Massage Therapist. I have a Dental Aide certification I obtained while in high school. I have my Child Development Associate and also my degree in Criminal Justice on top of being a great rapper and actress. None of this was displayed on Love & Hip Hop.
Do you believe that Love and Hip Hop opened many doors for you in the entertainment industry? And if so, do you think that you are now typecasted or considered versatile in the industry?
Absolutely, That’s one thing I wouldn’t take from Love & Hip Hop is that although they never got to display a lot of my real characteristics on television, the tv series did open up a lot of great opportunities for me to display my gifts and talents to the world through the Entertainment Industry. I’m definitely considered versatile. I’d never allowed anyone to put me in a box or make me something I’m not.
What type of actress do you want to be considered as? Tell us about any upcoming movies, shows, etc.?
I want to be considered limitless in the acting world because I can dominate any role thrown at me! I’ve played lead roles in 2 GeecheeOne production films (Lilith’s Ball, Carolina Dreams). Recently I cast a role as “The Ring Girl” in (Lola 2). You’ll even catch me in a few episodes in the upcoming season 2 of (P Valley). And right now I am preparing for a lead role in an Antoine Allen Film “Ryder”! It’s my first major role and I’m super excited about it .
What type of artist do you want to be considered as? Tell us about your album?
I’d like to think of myself as versatile when it comes to my music because not only do I rap, I can sing as well. On my upcoming EP, I will be displaying every genre of music I enjoy recording and hopefully, the world will get to enjoy just how versatile I am with my music. Stay Tuned!
Do you have any artists in mind that you would love to collaborate with? Do you have any actors in mind that you would love to work with?
Amongst the few GREATS I’ve already worked with, I’d love to collaborate with Nicki Minaj, Lil Kim, Foxy Brown, Chris Brown, Erykah Badu, Rihanna, Beyoncé, and Drake just to name a few lol 😂
Everyone wants to leave a legacy. What legacy do you want to leave behind?
When it’s all said and done for me my only wish is that I leave a Legacy for the family! They are my biggest Fans and Supporters. With the hard work and dedication that I display I want them and Every Beautiful “Brown Baby” in the world to know that you can Be ANYTHING you want. Don’t allow the world to assume you’re limited to a Stereo or Prototype. Create the best version of yourself and push that.
What does the future hold for Nikki Natural?
Much Success. I’m constantly praying over my life and over my gifts and talents so the Sky is NOT the limit for me. At the top of the charts is where I desire The Future of the Nikki Natural brand to be. My music would be definitely my lead with all the other talents that would follow.
One can only expect great things from Nikki Natural, as the multi-talented vessel can only continue to shine with her mental approach to her crafts. It’s only for us to sit back and enjoy the show, well, all of them.
