Tamika Harden, mid 30’s, professional fitness trainer, instructor and COVID-19 survivor. Harden ran a gym where she trained 200 plus women a month. This became extremely hard once faced with the idea that she may have COVID-19 after being denied twice for testing. Harden’s two adopted children and nanny also tested positive for the virus but through wellness and fitness, Harden has recovered and aims to assist those in the fight against COVID-19.
Hardern expressed her gratitude and how fortunate she was despite her and her family catching this virus. “My body was able to fight COVID-19, which prevented the need for hospitalization”, explained Harden. She then began to tell us a little more about her life and how over the course of 15 years she led a healthy lifestyle that she believed would prevent her from catching the virus. “What I did prior to COVID-19 strongly impacted my ability to fight it. While fighting the virus I increased my vitamin intake and fought it with over the counter medication”. Harden continued by explaining how she’d juice her fruit and vegetables and eats healthy when she was able to eat. Harden continued, “For several days, I had no appetite or sense of taste or smell. As soon as my body felt well enough, I returned to exercising”.
During this pandemic some health officials denied COVID- 19 testing services due to the amount of test on hand. Those who indeed caught this virus but was refused service had to heal their bodies in their own way. We asked Harden how is things in the home now and in what ways were they preventing encountering it again?
Harden replied, “At home, we practice precautionary measures such as social distancing, wearing masks while out and cleaning our common areas regularly. We have also resumed our lifestyle practices, which includes exercise and proper nutrition”. Harden continued by saying, “Leading a healthy lifestyle is essential”, and that “Immunity besides precautionary measures is the best tool we have to fight viruses such as COVID-19”. Harden would like to increase her reach so that she may help those going through what she got past.
