Your Fashion Pharmacist: Meet Jasmine Kelly of 2:22 Fashion RX

Birmingham Al, native and graduate from Alabama State University; Jasmine Kelly has proven that with ambition and hard work you can turn your dreams into reality. Jasmine is the owner, operator, and CEO of 2:22 Fashion FX, a fashion boutique where she provides confidence and self-esteem as well as the latest trends in fashion.

Aside from being a super woman, Jasmine is a down to earth individual who enjoys helping others win. “I’m really big on family, traveling and self development so in my spare time I’m either hanging out with my love ones, traveling, or reading.” Jasmine added, “I’ve recently started to grow a passion for mentoring and collaborating with other women who are out here on a journey similar to mine.”

Fashion brings out the best in things and people, it really demands a crowd. Some realize early their passion for fashion. “I started to notice my passion for fashion when I was a teenager. I’ve worked in the retail field since I was 16 years old and I still remember my first job and how excited I was when I started.” Jasmine continued, “I started managing retail fashion stores at the age of 21, which landed me in Memphis, TN where I finally decided to branch off and step out on faith and open my own business. I saw my ability to create relationships with my clientele and grow the company I was working for consistently and that’s what inspired me to take my own path. I started thinking, hey if I can do this for someone else why am I not doing it for myself.”

The pandemic played its part in a lot of different businesses. Some businesses crumbled under pressure and some rose to the occasion. “The pandemic actually had more of a positive effect than a negative effect on my business. It taught me how to be innovative and change my trends to match what was going on currently in the world. It also pushed me to be more creative and think outside the box when it came to creating content.” Jasmine continued by saying, “I had to ask myself how I can still draw an audience despite what’s going on in the world. The negative side of it was at first I was thinking more with emotion rather than business and I felt it was selfish of me to advertise my business during such a rough time, but it actually turned out the complete opposite. Some of my customers told me their orders gave them something to look forward to and to be excited about during the pandemic.

Ms. Kelly also broke down the unique name of her brand. “My business name came about because at one point of time I was struggling with the decision of starting my business. I just wasn’t sure was I prepared for the responsibility and all that would come with being a business owner.” Jasmine added, “Every day I would see the numbers 222 to the point it had creeped me out. I would look at the time it’s 2:22, check the numbers at the store I was running and see 222. Everywhere I turned I saw these numbers. I eventually end up researching what it meant and it means you are at a time of new beginnings and a new cycle of expansion. Trust that you have an unlimited power for creation and it all starts with just a thought. I knew then that was my answer to pursue the vision that I was given. The Fashion in Fashion comes from fashion and the RX comes from the RX symbol that is used when a pharmacy is being referenced. This combination birthed the name of my business 2:22 Fashion RX known as the Fashion Pharmacy.”
