So You Want a Personal Shopper? Well Think Again…

Imagine this: It is a Friday evening, you are tired from work, but you are out of food. You grudgingly get in your car and drive to the nearest grocery store, hoping to find it empty. You walk in the door and find that everyone had the same idea that you did. You groan to yourself but you have to eat, so you get to shopping. The average person spends about 60 hours grocery shopping per year. Unless you’re rich, and you can afford a personal shopper to do that for you.

Well, Kevin Hart recently discovered that his personal shopper had been using his credit card, and had racked up over $1 million in unauthorized charges over an almost 2-year period. Excuse me while I go count the ways I could use $1 million (given to me legally.) Let’s break down how that money was spent here:

  • Fine art and collectables
  • Jewelry
  • 5 Patek Phillipe watches valued at more than $400,000
  • Same Friedman painting
  • 16 Bearbrick collectible dolls
  • Two Louis Vuitton Keepall Bandouliere bags

The personal shopper became acquainted with Kevin Hart though his personal shopping business, Sire Consulting, LLC. It was understood that Hart’s credit card would only be used for authorized purchases. If convicted, the shopper faces up to 25 years in prison. Celebrity or not, it’s important to keep track of your expenses, and keep your financial information to yourself.
