Let me just say, God knew what he was doing when he created, and gave us the ability to create music. It can turn even the worst day around, and most of us can’t live without it. With that being said, if you haven’t heard of ImTru, it’s time to put him on your next R&B playlist. Hailing from Mobile, Alabama, he is an up and coming artist and a writer for Universal Music Group.
Like most R&B musicians, he grew up listening to gospel music, and his mother was a gospel musician herself. He is also inspired by some of the greats: Michael Jackson, Usher, and Brandy. His music has a smooth soulful vibe that is easy on the ears. Anyone that is a successful artist will quickly tell you that it is no easy feat, and ImTru has been transparent about his journey as an artist. Realizing that everyone may not have your best interest at heart and making the right connections are just a few keys to success.
For most, COVID-19 has been a stumbling block, but for a lyricist like ImTru, it has help him to be more in tune with his emotions, and has given him ample time to perfect his craft. He wants his music to invoke genuine emotion from the audience. In his view, that’s what makes R&B such a great genre.
In the future, ImTru would love to write songs for The Weekend or Bruno Mars. He encourages other young artists to never give up, and be confident about their talents. You never know who your music will resonate with. The music industry is a tough nut to crack, but with perseverance, it’s possible to be a great artist.
