What does it mean to have a God given gift?
Well in 1 Peter 4:10 it states “As every man has received the gift, even so minister the same one to another, as good stewards of the manifold grace of Yahuah.
First we need to understand that there is a difference between gifts and talents. A talent is a result of something that already comes in your genetics from training or much practice. A spiritual gift is given to you by the Holy Spirit (Ruach Elohim- Spirit of God), which operates through you.
Gifts are given through the receiving of the Holy Spirit, in Acts 1:8, “But ye shall receive power, after the Ruach Ha’Qodesh (Holy Spirit) is come upon you: and ye shall be witnesses unto me both in Yerushalayim (Jerusalem), and in all Yahud (Jehud), and in Shomeron (Samaria), and unto the uttermost part of the earth.
Before doing anything in life you want to first seek the purpose of your spiritual gift from Yah. You can be given a spiritual gift but not operate in it for lack of knowledge. It is good to understand why Yah gave you the gift and what he desires you to do with it.
The bible speaks of three lists of spiritual gifts in (Rom 12, 1 Cor 12, and Eph 4:10).
Some have the ability to prophesy, healing, discernment, and even the interpretation of tongues.
The ability to prophesy may consist of speaking of something to come or something that may be very current in an individuals life that the Holy Spirit wants you to give to a person. A person could be praying to Yah seeking confirmation that he has heard their prayers or a person could be in danger. Because God has chosen you as a vessel to use, he will speak through you to that individual.
The ability to discern spirits is when the Holy Spirit speaks through you in order for you to be able to determine if a person is operating in Yah or being deceitful. With this gift you may come in contact with someone you have never met before, but Yah will give you understanding of their spirit so that you will know whether this person means good or means harm.
The ability to heal, is given through the Holy Spirit and will allow you to cure someone of a sickness or even a disability. Years ago in Mobile, Alabama, a Pastor’s wife was bound to a wheelchair and a minister visited and prayed over the wife and she began to walk. She is now no longer in a wheel chair and shares her testimony often. Remember that Yeshua (Jesus) stated in John 14:12 “Amein, Amein, I say unto you, He that believes on me, the works that I do shall he do also, and greater works than these shall he do;…”
The ability to interpret tongues refers to the spiritual language that the Holy Spirit gives us for our own edification. With this gift one is able to understand those languages when spoken in prayer. (1 Cor 14:28)
These are just a few of the many gifts the Holy Spirit gives to whom he chooses to. It is important that you operate in the gift that has been given to you. Do it without fear or thought for judgement and criticism by unbelievers. When people doubt and do not understand Yah they will try to accuse you of being evil or even say that it is witchcraft. Your spiritual gift is to always be used as led by the Holy Spirit for good reasons to help others draw closer to Yah and stay on the right path.
Do not neglect your gift, because it has been given with a purpose and may help someone believe again that we serve a God of miracles who hears us when we pray. It may also be used to save a life and lead them back to Yahweh!
