Tucked into the growing community of Mableton, Zoet Beauty is more than a beauty supply store: it’s a statement.
Born from both frustration and vision, the space challenges an industry that has long treated Black hair care as an afterthought. At Zoet Beauty, every product, every shelf, and every conversation is intentional and centered on celebrating the full spectrum of Black beauty while filling a gap that has been overlooked for far too long. What started as a response to exclusion has evolved into a hub of representation, education, and empowerment for a community that has always deserved more.

Here’s what the founders, Dana and Charis had to say:
What inspired you to start Zoet Beauty, and what gap did you see in the market for Black hair care?
Zoet Beauty was born out of frustration and vision. I was tired of seeing Black hair care treated like an afterthought with limited options, underrepresented brands, and little real education. I saw a gap for a space that centered our textures, our needs, and our innovation, and we built it.
As Black business owners in the beauty industry, what challenges have you faced, and how have you navigated them?
Access and visibility are constant hurdles, whether it’s funding, distribution, or being taken seriously at scale. I’ve navigated that by staying rooted in purpose, building strong relationships, and letting consistency and community speak louder than any barrier.
How do you ensure your store reflects and serves the needs of the Black community authentically?
We listen, first and always. Our shelves, our messaging, even our conversations in-store are shaped by real customer experiences. It’s not about guessing what the community needs; it’s about staying connected enough to know.
What does representation in the beauty retail space mean to you, and how do you bring that to life through Zoet Beauty?
Representation is about ownership, visibility, and truth. At Zoet Beauty, it looks like prioritizing Black-owned brands, showcasing the full spectrum of our beauty, and creating a space where people feel seen the moment they walk in.
What advice would you give to aspiring Black entrepreneurs looking to enter the beauty or retail industry?
Start with purpose, not just product. Know your “why,” stay consistent, and don’t wait for permission to take up space. Build something real, and the right audience will find you.

Zoet Beauty is more than a destination, it’s a movement rooted in purpose, community, and unapologetic representation. By creating a space where Black beauty is not only acknowledged but prioritized, Zoet Beauty continues to redefine what inclusion truly looks like in retail. As the brand grows, its mission remains clear: to serve, uplift, and celebrate the community it was built for.
