Angela Simmons has spent most of her life in the public eye, as a reality television star, entrepreneur and daughter of hip-hop pioneer Rev Run. But in 2026, Simmons is stepping into an entirely new lane, introducing the world to a side of herself that has never been seen before.

With the release of her debut single “Run To,” featuring rap legend Jadakiss and vocalist Reesa, Simmons is officially entering the music industry for the first time under the name Angela Renée. Released through the iconic Ruff Ryders imprint and produced by Grammy-nominated producer Hitmaka, the record blends introspective lyricism with soulful hip-hop production, marking a bold creative shift for the longtime public figure.

For Simmons, the moment represents more than a career pivot. It is the start of a deeply personal artistic journey.

“I’ve never touched music before in my life,” Simmons said. “This was the first time I ever went into the studio. I didn’t go in with expectations. I went in from a creative place and spoke from truth.”

That truth drives the message behind “Run To,” a reflective track that encourages listeners to confront the parts of themselves they often avoid.

“I think people run from the truth of who they really are,” Simmons said. “Sometimes it’s easier to run from the problems or the things you need to fix within yourself. For me, it was about holding a mirror up and asking, ‘What part of this is me?’”

The song’s emotional depth reflects Simmons’ lived experiences, from navigating fame at a young age to enduring personal loss and heartbreak while growing up in front of millions of viewers.

“You have to face your pain,” she said. “If you keep running from it, it always comes back.”

While music may be new territory for Simmons, the influence of sound and rhythm has always been part of her life. Raised in one of hip-hop’s most recognizable families, she grew up surrounded by artists, producers and the culture that helped shape the genre.

Still, entering the studio as an artist required a different kind of vulnerability.

“I can’t function without music,” Simmons said. “From morning to night, I’m always listening to something. Music has always been a huge part of my life.”
