Lamont Daniels Turns a Colon Cancer Diagnosis Into a Mission for Community Wellness

For Lamont Daniels, a colon cancer diagnosis in his late forties became the moment that transformed not only his health, but also his purpose. After spending more than two decades working in corporate America, Daniels found himself confronting a life altering reality that forced him to reevaluate everything from his lifestyle to the goals he still hoped to achieve.

Today, the colon cancer survivor is on a mission to help others improve their health through nutrient dense meals and fresh pressed juices. As the founder of Wholesum Juice Bar, Daniels is committed to providing his community with healthier food and beverage options that are both convenient and nourishing.

When Daniels first received his diagnosis, the news forced him to face several difficult thoughts at once.

He realized he might not have been as healthy as he believed. He also feared that his life could be shorter than he expected, leaving little time to accomplish the goals he had envisioned for himself.

Those realizations quickly reshaped his priorities.

Daniels began paying much closer attention to what he was putting into his body and how his daily choices affected his overall well being. The diagnosis also reminded him that life is unpredictable and that waiting to pursue purpose can mean missing the opportunity entirely.

Before his diagnosis, Daniels already believed he was living a relatively healthy lifestyle. He worked out three to four times a week, stayed consistent with annual physical exams, and had already limited his consumption of beef and pork. Most of his meals consisted of fish or chicken, and alcohol was typically limited to occasional social settings.

Still, his diagnosis prompted him to take his health commitment to an entirely new level.

Following his treatment plan, Daniels made the decision to completely eliminate animal products from his diet and embrace a plant based lifestyle. Nutrient dense foods became more than daily meals. They became an intentional part of his healing strategy.

Fresh cold pressed juices quickly became a central component of that approach. Daniels viewed them as a way to supply his body with concentrated vitamins and minerals that could be easily absorbed. His focus shifted toward allowing food to serve as a form of medicine during the recovery process.

While he acknowledges that some people remain skeptical about the role nutrition can play during illness and recovery, Daniels says his personal experience made the choice clear.

At the time, he faced a decision about how he wanted to approach the next chapter of his life. He could focus on improving the quality of his health and wellness, or accept the possibility of ongoing medical complications and repeated hospital visits.

For Daniels, the answer was simple. If nutrition had the potential to support his recovery and improve how he felt physically, it was worth the commitment.

During chemotherapy, he also noticed differences between his experience and the experiences of others undergoing similar treatments who had not adopted a plant based diet. That observation further reinforced his belief that nutrition can play a powerful role in how the body responds to illness and treatment.

Four years later, Daniels now has a clean bill of health. His recovery not only strengthened his personal commitment to wellness, it also inspired a new entrepreneurial path.

After completing treatment, Daniels realized he no longer wanted to return to the stress filled routine of corporate America. Instead, he began thinking about how his health journey could help others.

During his transition to a plant based lifestyle, he often found it difficult to locate convenient, healthy meals while on the go. Fast food options were widely available, but nourishing alternatives were far less accessible.

That gap sparked the idea for Wholesum Juice Bar.

Daniels envisioned a space where people could access healthy food quickly without sacrificing flavor or nutritional value. Today, Wholesum Juice Bar offers a wide range of fresh and nutritious options including cold pressed juices, detox packages, wraps, soups, smoothies, sea moss products, and healthy treats.

His goal is simple. He wants to provide his community with healthier fast food alternatives that are fresh, satisfying, and packed with nutrients.

Creating menu items that balance wellness with broad appeal has been an important part of that mission. Daniels focuses on simple whole foods that naturally complement one another and create flavors that people genuinely enjoy.

The menu is designed to serve both longtime wellness enthusiasts and individuals who may just be beginning to explore healthier lifestyle choices.

Beyond running his business, Daniels is especially passionate about raising awareness among Black men about colon cancer prevention and early detection.

He encourages men to stop avoiding doctor visits and begin taking their health seriously through regular medical checkups and screenings. Colonoscopies, he emphasizes, should not be delayed until age fifty. Recent studies show colon cancer diagnoses are occurring earlier in many men, making early screening more important than ever.

Daniels also stresses the importance of maintaining an active lifestyle and prioritizing what goes into the body.

For him, prevention is not only about medical care. It is also about the daily choices that shape long term health.

Looking ahead, Daniels hopes his story becomes part of a larger legacy of awareness, accountability, and community transformation.

He wants family, friends, and neighbors to understand that a difficult diagnosis does not have to be the end of the story. Instead, it can become the catalyst for change.

His message is rooted in personal experience and faith. What we choose to eat, he believes, plays a major role in determining the quality of our lives.

Daniels also encourages others to lead by example when seeking change. If you want to see improvement in your health or your community, he says, the first step is taking action yourself.

Through his business, his advocacy, and his testimony as a survivor, Lamont Daniels continues to share a powerful reminder that healing, purpose, and second chances can grow from the most unexpected moments.

And in his journey, he holds firmly to one belief that carried him through it all.

God always has an answer.
