THE BURBS: A New Mystery Comedy Series With Keke Palmer Brings Suburban Secrets and Sharp Humor to Peacock

Television drama is about to get stranger, funnier, and a little darker as The Burbs, the highly anticipated mystery comedy series starring Keke Palmer, prepares to premiere exclusively on Peacock on Sunday, February 8, 2026. All eight episodes of the first season will be available to stream on launch day, giving audiences a binge-ready experience that blends suburban normalcy with unexpected twists.

Inspired by the cult classic 1989 film of the same name, The Burbs reimagines the beloved story for a modern audience. Set in present-day suburbia, the series follows Samira, played by Palmer, and her husband Rob, portrayed by Jack Whitehall, who have reluctantly moved into Rob’s childhood home. What seems like a peaceful neighborhood quickly becomes a hotbed of mystery when a new neighbor moves in across the street, surfacing hidden secrets and turning quiet cul-de-sac life upside down.

At its core, The Burbs captures the tension between mundane everyday life and the eerie allure of the unknown. Samira’s curiosity about an abandoned house next door leads her to question everything she thought she understood about her community and herself. Alongside a quirky ensemble of neighbors, she embarks on an amateur sleuthing journey that reveals buried history, unexpected threats, and plenty of comic chaos.

Palmer’s role as Samira places her at the center of the narrative’s emotional and comedic pulse. She also serves as an executive producer on the series, bringing her creative voice to both the screen and behind the scenes. The project was developed by creator and showrunner Celeste Hughey, with additional executive producing by industry heavyweights including Seth MacFarlane and Brian Grazer.

The show’s ensemble cast adds dimension and humor to the storytelling. Alongside Palmer and Whitehall, Julia Duffy, Paula Pell, Mark Proksch, and Kapil Talwalkar appear in series regular roles, representing a range of personalities that give the suburban world its distinctive energy.

The Burbs injects fresh perspective into a familiar genre by blending comedy, mystery, and character-driven drama. With its eight-episode format and all episodes dropping at once, the series invites viewers to immerse themselves in its world of strange neighbors and neighborhood intrigue. As audiences follow Samira’s quest for answers, they are reminded that even in the quietest towns, secrets are seldom buried for long.

This adaptation pays homage to the original film while carving out its own identity for contemporary viewers. With Palmer’s magnetic presence anchoring the cast, The Burbs promises to be one of Peacock’s standout series for early 2026, offering a blend of suspense, humor, and community dynamics that resonates long after the credits roll.
