Levina Lye is centering her next phase on her new single “DFWM (Don’t F*ck With Me).” The single is positioned as a shift release rooted in boundaries, burnout from one-sided emotional labor, and ending patterns that gave nothing back.
The single came from a long period of personal exhaustion and a decision to no longer carry that alone. The writing process for “DFWM” did not begin as a confrontation. It began as acceptance. The concept is direct: if a person refuses equity in connection, she removes access.
“People get tired of showing love and continuously giving and receiving nothing back in return.”
The new song functions as a counter-narrative to passivity. The record is also designed to permit listeners not to explain or justify that choice.
“At some point, you have to accept that people won’t love or show up for you the way you do for them,” she said.
More new music is coming after “DFWM,” and this single sets the direction for the next phase of her catalog, which includes two critically acclaimed EPs. “Pieces of Me,” and “More of Me,” respectively.
Referring to her audience as supporters, Levina Lye is grateful for their continued support but never wants the dynamic of being “worshiped” like many of today’s superstars. The driving force behind her music will always be connecting with people in a real and honest way.
“Those songs have helped me through the toughest moments of my life, and I want to be that light for others,” she said, speaking of her past discography.
“DFWM is currently streaming on all major platforms!
