The Queen Bee herself, Beyoncé Giselle Knowles Carter, is gracing the cover of British Vogue in their December 2020 Issue. Beyoncé sat down with Editor in Chief of the publication, Edward Enninful, for a rare interview. Within the interview Beyoncé discusses fashion, her latest projects, Black is King, family life, and the work she has been doing to help families affected by COVID in her hometown, Houston, TX.
In the interview, Beyoncé reflects on the events that have occurred in 2020. Just like the rest of us the Grammy winning artist feels that she has absolutely changed.
“It would be difficult to experience life in a pandemic and the current social unrest and not be changed. I have learnt that my voice is clearer when I am still. I truly cherish this time with my family, and my new goal is to slow down and shed stressful things from my life.”
2020 has been unprecedented year and many people’s lives have been changed. We are dealing with a pandemic, the continuance of racial injustice in the black community and on top of that a stressful too close for comfort election. Nobody has time for any additional or unnecessary stress. The pandemic has forced a lot of us to slow down and really appreciate the things in life that matter. Anything that is not bringing you joy, you need to let it go. This can be that toxic relationship or friendship, family members, job, whatever it is. In the words of Queen Elsa, Let it go.
“I’ve spent a lot of time focusing on building my legacy and representing my culture the best way I know how. Now, I’ve decided to give myself permission to focus on my joy.”
The Queen Bey herself is reminding us to at some point you have to focus on your joy. Whatever that may look like for you. Black Woman especially are focused on families, career, and relationships. We need to take a step back to fully enjoy the fruit of our labors without feeling guilty. You deserve it, Sis.
We also learn some fun facts about the superstar.
It just so happens that Beyoncé is actually the Queen Bee. The singer actually shares that she has two actual beehives. Like real ones, with actual bees. 80,000 bees to be exact. She started the hives due to both of her daughters having terrible allergies and honey is a extraordinary healing property.
