Cities Where the Dating Scene Needs a Little More Love:

Not every city made the cut. According to survey responses, these cities ranked lowest when it comes to satisfaction and connection among Black singles:

  • Cincinnati, OH – Low energy and limited dating options landed this city at the bottom.
  • Wichita, KS – Sparse Black population and a small dating pool make things extra quiet.
  • Columbus, OH – Despite its college-town status, Black singles felt the community vibe was lacking.
  • San Diego, CA – Beautiful beaches, but not much heat in the dating scene for Black singles.
  • Phoenix, AZ – The desert sun is hot, but the romantic energy? Not so much.
  • Indianapolis, IN – Fewer cultural touchpoints and organic connection opportunities held it back.

BLK surveyed thousands of users across the U.S., asking them to rate their city across six key questions tied to dating satisfaction, partner availability, cultural alignment, and overall community connection. The final scores reflect a blend of lived experience and self-reported insights, capturing both the vibe and the reality of dating as a Black single in America today.
