Acclaimed songwriter, artist, producer, and cultural changemaker Sean Garrett will be honored with the Outstanding Citizen Award by U.S. Georgia State Representative Park Cannon. The formal presentation, signed by Georgia Secretary of State Bradford Jay Raffensperger, is scheduled for Friday, June 20th, at the Georgia State Capitol Building. This prestigious award recognizes Garrett’s remarkable impact—not only within the music industry but also through his unwavering commitment to uplifting the next generation.
The Outstanding Citizen Award stands as one of Georgia’s most distinguished civilian honors, presented to individuals who exemplify leadership, service, and positive community influence. Garrett, widely known as “The Pen” for penning more than 56 No. 1 hits and 18 Billboard Hot 100 Number Ones that have significantly shaped the sound of modern music, is now powerfully leveraging his platform to create opportunities for others.
During the ceremony, Garrett will formally announce the launch of “Amplify Your Music”—a new youth-centered program focused on music education, creative mentorship, and real-world exposure to the arts. As a key part of this initiative, he will donate musical instruments to underserved schools and community programs that currently lack access to essential tools for artistic growth.
“This initiative is about access, education, and empowerment,” says Garrett. “I want young people to know their creativity matters. Amplify Your Music is about giving them the tools—literally and figuratively—to express themselves and succeed.”
Following the award presentation at the Capitol, an exclusive after-party reception with a red carpet will be held at 5:30 PM at Cafe Momentum, located at 200 Peachtree St NW Suite L02, Atlanta, GA 30303.
