June 26 | National Beautician’s Day Feature
Every year on June 26, we recognize National Beautician’s Day—a time to celebrate the talented professionals who help us look and feel our best. These gifted artists, also known as stylists and cosmetologists, pour their creativity, skill, and care into every cut, braid, and treatment they deliver.
One standout in the beauty industry is Alisha LaVon, a licensed stylist with over 20 years of experience. Alisha is the proud owner of LVX Hair Salon, conveniently located in Glen Burnie, Maryland. Serving clients throughout the DMV (D.C., Maryland, and Virginia) area, she has built a loyal clientele who trust her expertise in healthy, natural hair care.
Her signature services include everything from traditional sew-ins and silk press treatments to crochet braids, goddess braids, boho braids, knotless braids, and loc maintenance. Whether you’re a high school student prepping for prom, a working professional in need of a glow-up, or a mom introducing her daughter to the beauty of self-care, Alisha makes it her mission to enhance your natural beauty while protecting and nurturing your hair’s health.
Alisha’s journey began early—rooted in a childhood love for hairstyling and nurtured through a high school cosmetology program. That early spark turned into a career driven by passion, purpose, and precision. Today, she’s known not only for her technical skill, but for her creativity, professionalism, and the deep relationships she builds with each client.
When asked what trends she’s most excited about, Alisha lights up. “It’s summertime, so that means it is officially braid season! Knotless Boho braids are super trendy right now, and my clients are exploring bold new color combinations and curl patterns. I love seeing people step out of their comfort zone and try something fresh and new.”
As for the one piece of hair care advice she wishes everyone knew, Alisha says, “Hydration is key! Keeping your hair and scalp moisturized is essential, especially when wearing protective styles like braids. I always recommend using a lightweight leave-in conditioner or a hydrating spray. And don’t forget your scalp—a nourishing oil can help seal in that moisture.”
Creativity and motivation come easily when you truly love what you do. Alisha credits her clients for keeping her inspired. “They’re always sending me reels and photos of styles they want to try. It keeps me on my toes, and I love finding new ways to personalize each look. Hair is like a canvas—you can change the length, color, or texture and create something totally unique.”
As we celebrate National Beautician’s Day, let’s honor professionals like Alisha LaVon who use their hands and hearts to help us express our best selves—one strand at a time.
