Dr. Camille Brockett-Walker, DNP, FNP-BC, AGACNP-BC, is the embodiment of what it means to lead with skill, compassion, and purpose in healthcare. A double board-certified Adult-Gerontology Acute Care and Family Nurse Practitioner, she brings nearly two decades of experience to the frontlines of emergency, ICU, and acute care settings. Known for her quick clinical judgment and commitment to interdisciplinary teamwork, Dr. Brockett-Walker is a respected figure among peers and patients alike.
Her leadership isn’t confined to the bedside. As a nationally recognized educator and faculty member at Emory University’s Nell Hodgson Woodruff School of Nursing, she plays a pivotal role in shaping the next generation of nurse practitioners. In a time when healthcare demands not only expertise but also empathy, Dr. Brockett-Walker trains graduate nursing students to enter high-acuity environments with both confidence and compassion.
The passion that drives her work stems from a deeply rooted love for critical care. “I was inspired by the intensity of critical care,” she shares. “The ability to act swiftly, think critically, and change the trajectory of a patient’s life in moments. My roles in the clinical space are where my passion and purpose meet.”
Beyond the scrubs and stethoscopes, Dr. Brockett-Walker is intentional about maintaining what she describes as a rhythm between her professional and personal life. “I believe in work-life balance, though I view it more as a rhythm than a perfect split,” she explains. “I maintain it by setting boundaries, prioritizing rest, spending quality time with my son, and making space for joy outside of work.”
For new and aspiring nurses, her advice is both simple and profound: “Never stop learning, and never underestimate the power of your presence. Sometimes just being present, confident, and compassionate is more impactful than the perfect clinical answer.”
Among her greatest inspirations is Dr. Danielle McCamey, founder and CEO of DNPs of Color. Dr. Brockett-Walker credits her with transforming an idea into a movement, offering representation and empowerment in spaces where it’s long been lacking. “She built her own table, welcomed others in, and stayed grounded in her authenticity. That continues to inspire me.”
When reflecting on her proudest accomplishments, Dr. Brockett-Walker doesn’t just speak of awards or accolades, but of stepping fully into her role as a leader. “It took time for me to see myself the way others did. But stepping into leadership has allowed me to mentor, create, and influence meaningful change.”
Today, she remains committed to the mission of health equity. “Nurse practitioners can reduce health disparities by meeting patients where they are, providing culturally informed care, advocating for access, and educating communities with clarity and compassion.”

With every patient, every student, and every speaking engagement, Dr. Brockett-Walker continues to bridge the gap between clinical excellence and community impact—leading with heart, expertise, and an unwavering sense of purpose.
