Digital Cover Story: ETCETERA: The Multi-Talented Powerhouse Redefining Independent Music and Entertainment

From electrifying stages to crafting infectious beats, ETCETERA is proving that independence is more than just a status—it’s a movement. Fresh off a career-defining win for Best Pop Rap Performance at the World Entertainment Awards, his hit single “Dance For You” featuring Kaya Jones has catapulted him into global recognition. But for ETCETERA, this is just the beginning. With his genre-blending album SAGITTARIUS, an expanding tour, a booming spirits brand, and an upcoming sitcom on TUBI/FOX, he is rewriting the playbook for independent artists. In this exclusive interview, he dives into his journey, collaborations, and what’s next on his unstoppable rise.

FEMI:  Congratulations on winning Best Pop Rap Performance at the World Entertainment Awards! How does it feel to be recognized for “Dance For You” during Grammy weekend?

ETCETERA: Unreal! It’s one of the most incredible moments of my life. I’ve imagined this moment for years, but when it happened, I was completely overwhelmed. This recognition validates everything I’ve worked for, and I’m beyond grateful.

FEMI: “Dance For You” features Kaya Jones from the Pussycat Dolls, giving the song a global appeal. How did this collaboration come about?

ETCETERA: Kaya and I reconnected during Grammy Week while she was promoting her album. Our creative energy aligned instantly. I pitched the idea for Dance For You, and she was on board. With producer Francion Corbett, we crafted a track that blended our Caribbean roots with a universal sound. Kaya’s vocals were magic, and the song took off. It’s been an unforgettable journey.

FEMI: Your album SAGITTARIUS features diverse collaborations. How did you choose the artists, and what was your vision for the album?

ETCETERA: SAGITTARIUS is all about versatility. I don’t fit into a box—I blend hip-hop, R&B, Latin, and pop. Each collaboration was intentional: Trisha Covington brings classic soul, Serena adds Latin flair, and Grapevine taps into my raw lyricism. This album isn’t just music; it’s a statement of my artistic evolution.

FEMI: You’re an independent artist under your label IDOL Music Group Inc. What are the biggest challenges and rewards?

ETCETERA: Independence isn’t a status—it’s a skill. The challenge is access; without the right connections, you’re on the outside looking in. But the reward? Total creative freedom. I control my narrative, move in silence, and step into the spotlight when it counts.

FEMI: You’re gearing up for the second leg of your tour, co-sponsored by your Peanut Butter and Chocolate Rum, SAGITTARIUS. What can fans expect?

ETCETERA: This next leg takes things to another level—Latin and Pop vibes, new guests, and intimate venues for a deeper fan connection. SAGITTARIUS rum, created with Caribbean Moonshine Distillery, captures the same bold energy as my music. Plus, IAMETCETERA RADIO will be broadcasting live from every stop. Get ready for a next-level experience!

FEMI: Your new sitcom premieres on TUBI/FOX this fall. What can you share about the show?

ETCETERA: I’m the writer and producer of The DEEO and KENNY Show, a hilarious sitcom about two friends forced to share everything—including switching roles in life. It’s chaos, comedy, and unexpected life lessons. Trust me, you won’t want to miss it!

As ETCETERA continues to push creative boundaries, one thing is clear—he is not just an artist; he’s a visionary. With SAGITTARIUS making waves, a tour that promises an immersive experience, and a television debut on the horizon, his empire is only expanding. Whether through music, business, or storytelling, ETCETERA is leaving an indelible mark on the industry, proving that independence is the ultimate move!

ETCETERA is setting up for the second leg of his national tour scheduled for mid-March 2025. The tour is being co-sponsored by ETCETERA’s new Peanut Butter and Chocolate Rum, SAGITTARIUS (named after his album).
