From Redemption to Revolution: The Transformative Journey Behind King, Trump, Kennedy

In a story that transcends politics, history, and personal struggles, King, Trump, Kennedy is more than a memoir—it’s a testament to resilience, redemption, and the power of purpose. From a journey marked by incarceration to becoming a bestselling author, social justice advocate, and a voice for the voiceless, the author’s path intertwines with the legacies of Martin Luther King Jr., Donald Trump, and Robert F. Kennedy Jr. In this exclusive interview, she shares the motivations, pivotal relationships, and triumphs that shaped her life and inspired her groundbreaking memoir.

FEMI: Your memoir, King, Trump, Kennedy, takes readers through a deeply personal and transformative journey. What motivated you to share such intimate details of your life with the world?

Angela Staton-King: I was motivated to share my story because I believe in the power of transparency to heal and inspire. My journey from incarceration to becoming a bestselling author, presidential adviser, and advocate for social justice shows that redemption is possible, no matter how dark the path seems. I wanted to give others the courage to confront their struggles and transform their pain into purpose.

FEMI: The encounter with Alveda King was a pivotal moment in your story. Can you tell us more about how that relationship shaped your mission and your approach to social justice?

Angela Staton-King: Meeting Alveda King was life-changing. Her faith, wisdom, and unwavering commitment to social justice opened my eyes to the importance of restoring communities and preserving family values. She taught me that true advocacy requires compassion, boldness, and a willingness to stand on the frontlines for those without a voice. Her guidance helped shape my mission to fight for life, liberty, and justice, especially for marginalized and forgotten communities.

FEMI: Your advocacy for criminal justice reform led to a presidential pardon and collaboration with the Trump administration. What were the biggest challenges and triumphs you experienced while championing these reforms?

Angela Staton-King: The biggest challenge was confronting the stigma surrounding formerly incarcerated individuals, especially as a Black woman. It was an uphill battle to convince people that second chances are essential for a just society. However, the triumphs far outweighed the obstacles. Working with the Trump administration, I witnessed the signing of the First Step Act, which gave hope to countless families. My own pardon was a testament to the fact that redemption is real and attainable, even in a system that often feels unforgiving.

FEMI: In your memoir, you describe a significant partnership with Robert F. Kennedy Jr. during the COVID-19 pandemic. What inspired you to align with him on medical freedom, and how has that experience influenced your ongoing advocacy work?

Angela Staton-King: The pandemic exposed deep divides in how public health policies affect marginalized communities. Partnering with Robert F. Kennedy Jr. on medical freedom felt like a natural extension of my advocacy work, as it centered on the right to make informed decisions about our bodies and health. This experience reinforced my belief in challenging narratives that disregard individual freedoms and disproportionately impact vulnerable populations. It strengthened my resolve to fight for health equity and informed choice.

FEMI: The title of your book, King, Trump, Kennedy, references three influential names in American history. How do you see your journey as being connected to or influenced by the legacies of these figures?

Angela Staton-King: Each of these names represents a distinct legacy of courage, leadership, and a commitment to justice. Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. symbolizes the fight for civil rights and equality, which underpins my advocacy for marginalized communities. Donald Trump’s boldness in challenging the status quo inspired me to use my voice unapologetically. Robert F. Kennedy Jr.’s dedication to truth and freedom during times of crisis aligns with my mission to stand firm for justice and liberty. My journey bridges these legacies by embodying the principles of faith, resilience, and transformative leadership.

FEMI: Your life story is one of redemption and resilience. What advice would you give to others facing seemingly insurmountable challenges, and how do you hope your memoir will inspire readers?

Angela Staton-King: My advice is to never give up, no matter how difficult life may seem. Lean into your faith, trust the process, and understand that every trial you face can be a stepping stone to greatness. Surround yourself with people who see your potential and speak life into your journey. I hope my memoir reminds readers that even in their darkest moments, there is hope. Redemption is real, and their story is far from over. Let my journey inspire them to rise above their challenges and walk boldly in their purpose.

King, Trump, Kennedy is not just a memoir—it’s a roadmap to hope, a celebration of resilience, and a call to action for anyone seeking redemption. Through her remarkable journey, the author proves that it’s never too late to rewrite your narrative and leave a legacy of transformation.
