From the sophisticated ambiance of her salon to her signature community events like The Sleigh Soiree and Bubbles & Bundles, she has cultivated a space where clients feel pampered, informed, and celebrated. FEMI Magazine (Mo Clark): Your journey in the beauty industry spans over 15 years, with 10 years as a business owner. What inspired you to open B. Jolie Salon, and how does it reflect your vision for luxury haircare?
B. JOLIE: My journey in the beauty industry has been incredibly fulfilling, spanning over 15 years of dedication to my craft and 10 years as a business owner. The inspiration to open B. Jolie Salon came from someone very special in my life—someone I watched move with such grace and purpose as a child. Seeing her inspired me to dream big and envision a space that would not only reflect my passion for beauty but also embody the elegance and excellence I admired in her. That dream became a reality with B. Jolie Salon. For me, it’s more than just a business—it’s a manifestation of my commitment to providing exceptional services in a luxurious, welcoming environment. Every detail, from the sophisticated décor to the premium products we use, is intentionally designed to create an unforgettable beauty experience.
B. Jolie Salon represents my vision for what luxury haircare should be: a blend of artistry, innovation, and care. It’s a space where clients can feel pampered, valued, and empowered, and I’m grateful every day for the opportunity to bring that vision to life.
FEMI: B. Jolie Salon is known for its focus on client education and empowerment. Why is this aspect of beauty education so important to you, and how does it shape the experience for your clients?
B. JOLIE: B. Jolie Salon, I believe that every client’s hair tells a unique story, and it’s my mission to honor that individuality with tailored professionalism. No two experiences are the same because no two clients are the same. Beauty education is deeply personal to me—it’s about empowering clients to understand and care for their hair in a way that celebrates their natural beauty. Our salon embraces diversity, welcoming all hair types and textures. My extensive education in haircare allows me to share valuable knowledge with each client, equipping them to make informed decisions about their hair. Whether it’s maintaining the health of natural hair or finding the perfect style, education is at the heart of what we do.
Beyond the technical aspects, I’m passionate about creating a welcoming environment where clients feel valued and heard. Some of the most meaningful connections happen through the conversations we have in the chair, and those moments are as important as the service itself. For me, beauty education is about more than just hair—it’s about fostering confidence, self-expression, and a sense of community. At B. Jolie, our focus on education and empowerment ensures that every client leaves not only looking their best but also feeling informed and inspired.
FEMI: Your recent events, the Sleigh Soiree and Bubbles & Bundles, were major hits with the community. Can you share the inspiration behind these events and how they embody the B. Jolie brand?
B. JOLIE: The inspiration behind events like The Sleigh Soiree and Bubbles & Bundles comes from a deep desire to connect, uplift, and celebrate our community. At B. Jolie, we strive to captivate our audience through unique and meaningful experiences that extend beyond the salon chair. These events are a reflection of who we are—a brand rooted in authenticity, empowerment, and community. For me, the inspiration starts with divine guidance. Every idea, every effort, is driven by a higher purpose to educate, inspire, and create memorable moments. Hair holds immense significance in our culture, especially within the African American community, and I see it as a medium for connection and storytelling. Whether we’re sharing conversations over bubbles, a Coke, or coffee, these moments become opportunities to introduce new ideas, inform clients, and entertain in a way that’s deeply personal.
What sets B. Jolie apart is that our sales efforts are never just about profit—they’re about education, empowerment, and nurturing girl power. Through these events, I aim to show that I’m more than just a stylist; I’m a multifaceted woman building connections and creating spaces where people feel valued and inspired. These events embody the essence of the B. Jolie brand—a celebration of individuality, community, and the power of coming together to share experiences that leave a lasting impact. I’m proud to say I’m an all-around girl, and these events reflect that dynamic spirit.
FEMI: As a thought leader in the luxury haircare space, what trends or innovations are you most excited about for the future of hair extensions and personalized styling?
B. JOLIE: As a thought leader and changemaker in the luxury haircare space, I’m deeply honored by the trust my clients place in me. My approach is rooted in authenticity and skill, which has cultivated a dedicated following. In a world increasingly shaped by AI and innovation, I remain committed to the art and education behind haircare, ensuring my clients receive genuine, high-quality service.
This isn’t just a career—it’s a calling, a talent I believe was granted by God to make a difference in the lives of those I serve. What excites me most about the future is the growing awareness and curiosity surrounding hair extensions. More clients are eager to learn about the ‘how’ and ‘why’—understanding the importance of preserving their natural hair while choosing extensions that complement their personal style and needs. This shift toward informed and intentional styling empowers clients to make choices that enhance their beauty without compromising hair health. Beyond the chair, I’m thrilled about the community we’re building through events like Bubbles and Bundles and The Sleigh Soiree. These gatherings go beyond haircare; they’re about fostering connections, celebrating individuality, and creating an inclusive space for education and self-expression. As these events grow, so does our ability to impact lives in meaningful ways, further solidifying our place as a trusted voice in the industry. It’s an exciting time for personalized styling and innovation in hair extensions, and I’m grateful to be at the forefront, helping clients feel confident and empowered through every step of their journey.
FEMI: You’ve built a strong reputation not only for your services but also for fostering connections within the beauty community. How do you balance being a stylist, educator, and community builder while ensuring every client feels like a priority?
B. JOLIE: Balancing being a stylist, educator, and community builder requires intention and a strong sense of purpose. For me, it starts with staying grounded in what matters most: my faith, my family, and my clients. I’ve built B. Jolie to be more than a brand—it’s a community, and I’m incredibly grateful that it’s recognized as such. I prioritize being well-rounded by attending classes, staying on top of new trends, and continuously adapting so I can serve my clients and community better. As a mother and wife, my family is my foundation. They inspire and support me, and this business is just as much for them as it is for the women I serve.
My hope is that one of my four children might carry on this legacy, having seen firsthand the dedication and hard work it takes to change lives through this craft. For me, it’s about more than financial gain—it’s about creating a positive impact. I also ensure every client feels like a priority by fostering genuine connections. I listen to their needs, understand their vision, and create an environment where they feel seen and valued. Managing my time effectively and setting boundaries is key. I’ve learned to say no when needed, so I can remain fully present in every role I play—whether that’s in the salon, in the classroom, or at home. Weekends are for my family, and when I’m at work, I give my all to my clients. It’s not always easy, but I wouldn’t have it any other way. I’m so thankful to God for giving me the strength and guidance to show up every day and serve with purpose. This journey is a blessing, and I’m honored to make a difference in the lives of others through my work.
As a stylist, educator, and community builder, the woman behind B. Jolie Salon has mastered the art of balance, ensuring that every client feels like a priority while continuing to uplift the community. With an eye on the future of personalized styling and a dedication to empowering clients through education, her impact goes far beyond the chair. Whether it’s sharing knowledge about hair extensions, curating unforgettable events, or fostering connections that last a lifetime, her work is a testament to the transformative power of beauty. B. Jolie Salon isn’t just a destination for haircare—it’s a movement, a legacy, and a reflection of the bold, multifaceted woman at its helm.
