The 10th Annual Real to Reel Global Youth Film Festival Celebrates Young Talent and Fosters Industry Connections

The 10th Annual Real to Reel Global Youth Film Festival, presented by Better Youth Inc., kicked off on October 5th at the Los Angeles Film School, attracting local celebrities, city officials, and seasoned industry professionals. The festival, designed to uplift emerging filmmakers, particularly foster and system-impacted youth, showcased an inspiring lineup of films and talent.

The red carpet saw appearances from notable figures including Syd Stewart, the festival’s founder, Emmy-winning producer P. Frank Williams, Disney director Sean McNamara, and actors from hit shows like All American and The Wire. They were joined by filmmakers, actors, producers, and influencers, all lending their support to the youth-driven event.

The festival included two panel discussions where young filmmakers had the chance to hear personal stories and industry insights from professionals. In addition, award-winning producer Kristina Sullivan led an exclusive workshop based on her book, Script To Screen 101, guiding aspiring filmmakers on how to transform their ideas into successful scripts and productions.

Several impactful films were featured, including Flesh and Blood, The Jazz Pianist, Going Green, and Afterworld. This year’s top honors went to:

  • Best Drama: Unconditional, directed by Grant Housley
  • Best Action: Afterworld, directed by Oscar Bermudez

  • Best Animation: re:connection, directed by Kristina Tran
  • Best Horror: Flesh and Blood, directed by Paul Vo Le
