“Beautiful Black Woman” – Author Derrick Jakolby Washington Pens Beautiful Tribute to Black Women for Women’s History Month

[WASHINGTON, DC] March 6, 2024 — Children’s book author Derrick Jakolby Washington just released a beautiful ode to black women just in time for Women’s History Month.  In a poem entitled, “Beautiful Black Woman”, Washington created a heartfelt video tributing black women of all kind — both famous and not.

When asked about the poem and his inspiration behind creating it, Washington says, “In celebrating Women’s History month, my poem is a heartfelt tribute to the indomitable spirit of Black Women.  Their unwavering contributions and sacrifices have shaped the essence of humanity, yet they frequently stand in the shadows of recognition…” He continues, “To Black Women everywhere, know that your strength, your grace, and your resilience are seen, valued, and cherished, especially by me, a Black Man. The thought of a world without your presence, your influence, is unimaginable. Your light is essential.”

Beautiful Black Woman, 

I celebrate you today, and every day 

I celebrate you in every way

From your boldness to your poise, your class, your dignity. You are everything! 

You are my mother, my sister, my auntie, my grandmother, my wife, you are life…. Beautiful Black Woman!

You radiate grace, put a smile on my face… honestly, I feel you come through time and time and time again for the human race… from showing up at the polls and leading the charge, to being on the forefront at the latest March.

You are absolutely beautiful, brilliant, magnificent, resilient 

My sister, you are the realest, and I celebrate you! 

You are intelligence epitomized

You are are strength personified

You are the dream realized and please don’t you ever forget it
