Meet La’Torria Lemon

La’Torria Lemon, a native of Houston, TX knew early on that she was meant for greatness. She had self-awareness and a great head on her shoulders at a very young age, and truthfully not many teenagers can say that they had their own radio show and the poise to perform on stage as a toddler before large crowds. There has always been something special about her. She even planned early on that she would attend Clark Atlanta University since she was in the 8th grade. Talking about knowing exactly what you want out of life! She gave that true definition.

La’Torria also went on to excel as a member of the prestigious Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority and became President of the University Radio Station. There she served in several other clubs & auxiliaries that helped her to gain the necessary leadership skills that now serve her well as the owner & senior publicist of her own Media Firm. She works with not only many of today’s most high-profile entertainers but also non-profits, faith-based organizations, & corporations as well. Last year, she also received an honorary doctorate for her humanitarian work and has been listed as one of her alma maters’ top 40 under 40 alumni to name just a few of her long list of accolades. I am glad to have the honor of presenting her to our readers in our Queen’s issue as it is so befitting a title for this dynamic young woman.

How did it feel to begin working in the entertainment industry at such an early age?

I started acting and participating in pageants at the age of 3. By the age of 16 in 2007, I was one of the youngest radio personalities in Houston. My dream was to be a syndicated radio personality, but while in college, I was introduced to PR, so at the age of 19 I started working alongside PR great Saptosa Foster. She taught me so much. I wasn’t fully aware of what PR was at the time, but she allowed me to dive right in and find my way. I cherish those memories & experiences I had working with her on BET, TNT, SoSo Def, Essence Magazines & others. I’m almost 34 years old & when I look back on those early opportunities, I was a part of it was nothing but God, Faith, and building genuine relationships.

How have those early experiences such as hosting your own Sports Radio show at 16 helped shape your worldview?

At 16, it was almost unheard of to be on the radio, especially on Sports Radio. The Legendary Mr. Ralph Cooper allowed me the opportunity to write scripts, produce segments, be on the air, and engage with the community. I learned so much & gained so much support from my city. I tear up just thinking about the experience. Thanks to Ms. Georgia Provost for believing in me as well.
