Share with us what led to your passion for candles and why did you feel the sense to start your own line?
From as far back as I can remember, I have always been drawn to the ambiance of candles. Whenever I had a bad day, a good day, a celebration, or a rest day, there was a candle in my space, literally multiple candles. You would see fragranced candles throwing off ambient lighting creating a sense of peace and warmth in my established space. When I decided to create a product line, I chose products that would translate experiences of calm to consumers. The right choice was candles, diffusers, and perfume.
The scenting was key!
What separates your company from others on the market and why should consumers consider shopping with you?
TRUCE products are a statement. They are minimalistic in appearance, yet elegant. TRUCE represents the simple truth because truth is beautiful. The fragrances are based on earthy aromas as a reminder to stay grounded.
My products are about intentionality. My journey of healing was about being intentional about my truth. When I became honest, changed my internal dialogue, and communicated my truth, it changed my life. Subsequently, it interrupted the negative around me, creating a new environment receptive to receive newness. It was a process of forgiving myself and learning to love myself, in spite of, in essence, a truce.
Therefore, TRUCE is not only a product, by its design, it is a reminder to forgive ourselves. Its greatest operative is the ability to create our space! This is what separates my brand from other companies. TRUCE is to each person what they need TRUCE to be based on their own personal need.
The candle reminds us to be light, the diffuser is a reminder to diffuse negative energy and the perfume is about what you put on and around you. This is the experience I want to transfer to my consumers.
There is a growth in those seeking ways to meditate and candles and incense are seeing even more growth in production due to usage. How has this new spiritual age of individuals helped your business?
The more conscious we become of our spirituality, the more conscious we are about our moments, where we are, and our purpose. The timing of TRUCE was based on my journey and will always be relevant to the timing of one’s self-awareness. I am grateful that TRUCE’s timing was aligned with the move of the spiritual age, and I am more inclined to see that the spiritual age benefits consumers as a lifestyle and not as a trend. The spiritual age has heightened my messaging of spiritual wellness which is paramount to self-awareness.
Your story of how you overcame domestic violence and how you now live unashamed is amazing, please share with us the steps you took towards healing and self-awareness.
Truth, Relevance, Uniqueness, Choice, Elevation. Each letter in TRUCE symbolizes the steps I took in my healing and self-awareness. The first step is truth. Without truth, this is no reality, and if we cannot address our reality, there is no healing. The truth of me is that I rejected me. There was so much to unpack. My experiences made me feel irrelevant and because I felt that way, I continued to abuse myself with alcohol and drugs. When I decided to get clear, I had to relive the pain and move through the experiences with mature and spiritual perspectives, which gave me a new vision and awareness of who I am. My relevance, and purpose, my unique experiences are lessons and I have choices I can make every day. I do not have to live in default. Every day I elevate my mind by being deliberate in what I read, watch, listen to, and who I surround myself with. Every day I live T.R.U.C.E. and I am always healing – never healed, and always moving forward looking to be a better version of myself than I was yesterday.
If we go deeper. What do you feel the candle represented for you during your healing process?
I mean, it could mean so many things. I think for me it represents that even when my light flickers, it still shines. Meaning that with all my trials in life, my life still illuminates, not only with light but with lessons that impart light to others.
How has your spiritual journey helped you see the better good in bringing about a product that can help others in their journey?
My spiritual journey has helped me realize that my experiences are to be shared and I strongly believe that my purpose is to find creative ways to share those experiences. TRUCE it is!
