Anisa Fowler: Releasing and Rejoicing for the Lord

Music soothes the soul. I believe that to be true. Anisa Fowler is a child of God, and one of her gifts is music. She uses her gift to praise God when she leads worship and has been heard all over the Country by the many who listen to her Gospel music. She has been through a lot in life and uses her music not just to reach her listeners, but to heal herself as well. She is excited about everything that God has her doing with her gift of music, and gave FEMI a peek into everything that she has going on these days:

FEMI STAFF (Tyrane Hughes): “Tell our readers about yourself?”

Anisa Fowler: “My name is Anisa Fowler and I am an independent gospel artist from Long Island, New York. I was born in Trinidad and came to the US when I was 6 years old.  I’m a worship leader at two churches in NY.  I’m a mom of 3 amazing children. I’m also a manager at one of the largest court reporting companies in the US. I wear many hats and handle many responsibilities.  My relationship with God is my top priority. I’m certainly not perfect. Having gone through church hurt, rejection, divorce, and a plethora of emotional and relational trauma, I lean into my relationship with God to get me through it all.  I sing because it’s medicine, and want that when anyone hears my music they receive healing from the medicine this music provides.”

FEMI STAFF (Ty Hughes): “How did you become a Gospel singer…was it something you always wanted to do or did you feel called to do it?”

Anisa Fowler: “I’ve always wanted to sing gospel music. From as young as I can remember I’ve been singing in church. I’ve always been part of gospel groups and choirs. I knew I would sing solo one day, but I was always really nervous to stand on my own. One day a word was spoken over my life about my voice and I started to believe I could stand on my own. Ever since I’ve been pushing past my fears and doing what I love.”

FEMI STAFF (Ty Hughes): “How would you describe your style of creating Gospel hits?”

Anisa Fowler: “Life experiences fuel my worship and my style of writing.  I’ve been through some pretty devastating times in my life, and God’s presence and His word have been my lifeline. Through each experience, God reveals a different part of Himself to me, and it’s truly an honor to share those revelations through song to the world.”

FEMI STAFF (Ty Hughes): “If you could, what other Gospel artists would you collaborate with?”

Anisa Fowler: “I would love to collaborate with Kierra Sheard, Tasha Cobbs, Yolanda Adams, and Jekalyn Carr. All four of these ladies are anointed powerhouses. It would be a dream come true to work with any of them.”

FEMI STAFF (Ty Hughes): “What is your favorite memory in your career thus far?”

Anisa Fowler: “There have been so many amazing memories so far. Hearing my song on the radio just doesn’t get old! I am forever screaming when I hear my music. I remember the first time I heard it playing on Sirius XM I almost lost my mind!!! That was one of my best memories thus far.”

FEMI STAFF (Ty Hughes): “You have some great performances scheduled this summer. Can you tell us about some of those?”

Anisa Fowler: “This summer I will be in Florida and Georgia in July. I’ll be celebrating my EP release during the Stellar Awards Weekend in ATL. I’m looking forward to going back to the Carolinas to minister my music, and I’ll be getting around to as many states as I can to promote my EP.”

FEMI STAFF (Ty Hughes): “What are some things that Anisa Fowler is looking forward to in the future?”

Anisa Fowler: “July 15th I’ll be releasing my EP: Anisa-The Next Chapter.

I am also working on a devotional that I want to release before the year is out. So stay tuned to my FB/IG @anisaworships for when that drops.”
