Meet Shequitta Kelly, the creator and developer of the most desirable latest creation to strike the beauty and hair maintenance demand.

The Hair Shield is a luxury, everyday hair product invented to shield women’s hair extensions, wigs, and weaves when keeping them in daily adventures. A non-traditional entrepreneur, Shequitta’s originality for the exclusive impression of protecting women’s mane comes from her well-based profession as a criminal court judge. The Indiana native graduated as a first-generation college student from Indiana University with a dual bachelor’s degree in Criminal Justice and Psychology.

In 2003 she amended her studies to achieve her law degree. She became Judge Kelly, later connected to the Indiana Allen County Prosecutors’ office, where she served as the Felony Domestic Violence Intake Prosecutor for around six years. Her background conducted her to Dallas, Texas, where she accepted her Texas law license and entered the Dallas County District Attorneys’ office. She followed unfortunate but impactful cases at the Dallas D.A.’s Office and satisfied her judicial aspirations.

As a woman that constantly sports extensions, Shequitta noticed the shortage of items on demand to preserve her investment. After searching for an item that would keep her extensions straight and stay true to the satiny of the texture for re-installation, The concept of The Hair Shield was born while she was sorting dried-out hair attachments the evening before her hair appointment. Shequitta had learned that she would be capable of retaining and constructing the desired item.

The Hair Shield benefits from moving and compressing the mane in a soft and balanced form, allowing users to recover the hair and its following style. Further, the design of the shield comes with a unique feature which is an actual pocket on the mid outside of the product. And even an identification platform where those who have the pride don’t carry issues when it comes to the adventure of traveling it’s small enough to use where you are!

With the creation of her line and countless support and excitement from her friends and family, they demanded more of this life-changing item. So, with the push of celebration and the demand for the item, Shequitta was encouraged to go along with it.

In 2018, she finally placed the Hair Shield on the map after countless years of networking and growing conversations with stylists and influencers, giving them details about the product and spreading the word about it.

Shequitta had created such a needed and valued product, she had the idea of who this item would impact the most, which without question, it would be the community of women of color. We have always had a tense battle regarding our hair, representation, identity, the message of black hair, and the various types of beauty we all own.

Now, as an innovator, a voice of the people, and especially an entrepreneur, it has been a roller coaster with a small manual for Shequitta due to dealing with multiple and impactful careers that are, in fact, the process of making a product and growing the brand, it does come with a significant amount of time, energy and balance. Her powerful sense of determination and sole dedication to assisting Black women and their continuous adventure of dealing with the high and frustrating maintenance of keeping their hair comfortable, wholesome, and downright beautiful.

Shequitta’s journey, drive, and impact of her product have held a great message and understanding of being an entrepreneur that comes with the reality of up and down situations. That also lets Shequitta be more driven, which has given her the freedom to be additionally innovative regarding her product and many more to come.

The future looks very exciting and gives a growing factor of the representation and care for black hair moving forward. We love to see a new flow and items that will increase our beauty and undeniable style.
